Recently, Ventus has also added the ability to upload data to the Ecowitt network and your own web server using custom settings. Upload to any or all of the services simultaneously. We rarely see this feature rich technology at such a good price!
This is actually the Fine Offsets WH65A/B product (sold under many different brands) and so there is lots of information on the Web about this array if you dig for it.
I didn't buy the corresponding Base Station as eventually I need to monitor the values remotely.
For this as I'm using it via a RTL_SDR USB dongle with the RTL_433 application to convert the 868 Mhz packets into JSON and then importing those messages into the excellent weewx weather station application.
The sensor head is currently in the back garden and the receiving RTL_SDR (Nooelec NESDR SMArt v4 SDR) is on the opposite side of the house (no line-of-sight) and yet the signal is steady and strong.
The sensor head is well made and simple to assemble and IMO very good value for this combination of sensors.
Console:-
Console view is very very directional orientated.
Would be nicer with the alternative (but more expensive) colour version, only the forecast & moon phase are coloured glass on this model.
The wind segment is far too small - should be one of the largest segments in my view, whilst other not so important segments take up extra room, would be nice if the wind change developed a tail. Wind pointer is only a 1mm triangle.
Barometer would benefit from a graph.
Picking it up almost always presses the sensitive buttons.
Fairly easy to set up if you work through the manual.
Unit:-
The actual sensor units is quite delicate thin plastic and may not last long, time will tell, lighter than expected.
It is aesthetically well designed (nice shape)
I have it on a wooden pole above the roof.
No problems with transmission in my setup..
Needs a smart phone (which I don't own) to add to weather underground etc.
I am happy with my purchase.
Bought as a replacement for the Froggit WH3000 sensor unit, which is exactly the same WH56B unit as the Ventus, after the wind speed sensor had failed. Was pleasantly surprised to find that there have been a couple of product improvements since my version, the rain funnel is held much more securely against foam pads to prevent strong winds from dislodging it, and Li-ion AA batteries were included. Hopefully this one lasts a bit longer than the 2 years that the last one did.
