Monumental Joop!
Well, it was infatuated deep love at first whiff for me! Joop! Homme Absolute has to be the quintessential Joop, it is an extremely well-crafted fragrance that hits...nay smashes all of those low notes. To me, it renders aromas of pepper, tobacco, leather, ginger, rum and incense that have all been exquisitely blended together to form a masterpiece, indeed this has to be a new masterpiece from the House of Joop! The aromatic nature of this fragrance is enchanting and enigmatic, dark, yet lively and vitalizing. There is a detectable high flowery note secreted within that alludes to the overall ambience. There is a reminiscence in there too but of what I don't know, could it be of restored mahogany furniture, of an old polished leather chair from a stately home or maybe smouldering velvet or baize from an old pool-hall? Something alluring that is hard to discern, hard to put ones finger albeit nose on! The fragrance reveals darker richer more exquisite notes as time moves on and 7 to 8 hours of performance should easily be within everyone's reach with this fragrance. (Peoples skin PH levels differ) Compliments are more curiosity based demanding to know "Mmm nice, whats that your wearing?" Joop! Homme Absolute is not a generic fragrance it is very much out there in its own niche genre of sensual, boozy, enigmatic, deep dark fragrances. Overall, its a very pleasant experience from the House of Joop! It's a powerful fragrance and the word "Absolute" is not just a clever marketing strategy but a statement of the potency of the aroma. Being more powerful than standard (very powerful in its own right) Eau De Parfum and blowing away Eau De Toilette, Eau De Cologne and all and any Aftershaves of course. Remember this is not an aftershave and should not be treated as such, it is a specialist designer fragrance. "Absolute" is now the new niche genre watchword in fragrances meaning watch out, I'm a beast, powerful, strong, built to last, stand the test of time and permeate every nasal passage with pleasure and leisure! Joop! Homme Absolute is a rich, spicy, peppery frag with a single very detectable high note of perhaps an exotic tropical flower. It all combines very well and has been crafted to a beautiful degree of perfection. Worth every penny I put this on my top shelf as my best Joop! Also as one of my best frags front and centre.
