Brilliant grinder, one of my new favourite tools!

This is an exceptionally good grinder. Its powerful, relatively quiet compared to my Black and Decker Proline plug-in grinder and its not too heavy. Including the battery its probably a bit heavier than an equivalent plug-in grinder but not to the extent that it becomes a burden. Highly recommended as a grinder. The downside is that if you are using it for a day of welding and fabrication it gets through batteries. I have two 5 amp hour batteries and I've learned to charge them at every opportunity if I am metal working. Stop for a coffee- top-up the battery. Using a welder and a plasma cutter in a confined space with six wires between them you really appreciate having a completely un-tethered grinder and it more than makes up for the battery life, which is perfectly manageable. I'm a real convert to cordless tools and the Makita 18V range is outstanding. Ergonomically, it perhaps doesn't sit as well in the hand as some, its a bit chunky round the body and the thumb-switch on the top of the body needs a bit of getting used to compared to the trigger switch underneath that I've always had before. Trivial stuff, basically I love it and I think, if you've read this far, you should get one!

    Little disappointed.

I have own'd a lot of Makita tools over the years but this is a big let down. It has the power, but runs a battery down so quickly. You are constantly charging batteries. Ok for a little job, but def. not a pro. tool.

  • No more wires.

So much easier to use than the wired old product I have . Just not sure how long it will run on my 3ah batteries as reviews said it really needs 4 or 5 ah ones but will see what happens. Still very happy to have purchased and delivered in less than 24 hrs.

  • Ideal for DIY and commercial use

I now have two identically grinders which I use for grinding and cutting, they are easy to use and not too weighty. Disc changeing is easy only take a few moments.

  • OK good value grinder.

I already own large and small angle mains grinders but when I discovered how cheap a 4" grinder body was I thought it would be useful for on-off jobs. I have four 5aH batteries, which you need to get the best of these tools, be it drill or saw. I found the grinder wheel had plenty of speed, but perhaps lacked the grunt somewhat. You need to let the tool work at its own pace, then it performs adequately. I cut off four 18mm bolts easily, but recommend using the thin, 1 mm, cutting wheels. Thicker ones drag more. This will be a useful addition to my kit, saving the need for extension leads. If I had bought it with a battery (which can cost more than the tool!), I might have been disappointed, but for £75, I'm delighted. Usual Makita quality, but if you are going to be using one of these often pay more and go brushless.

  • solid quality tool!

Solid tool and i can use my Makita batteries from other tools. I would recommend a 5 or 6ah battery as the 3ah doesn't last long. Other than that if fab

  • Grinding 'Genie'.

I find this to be among the most convenient tools in my armoury, stick a 5ah battery on it and you're good to go for at least 1- 1 1/2 hours, obviously dependent on how heavy the load placed on the battery. If I need very heavy duty I'll pick the mains grinder, simple!

  • Get one you won’t regret it 🤩

This battery angle grinder is well made light and easy to use and feels reliable I’ve always wanted on and now I’ve got one it’s great.

  • Excellent tool

I work on a building site and found this on a price comparison site. It was the cheapest by far and it’s exactly the same as in retail stores. So win win. I use it most days and hasn’t battered an eye lid. Eats through batteries but that’s all angle grinders so it’s worth it!

  • Makita grinder dga452z

Used a couple of times, seems ok, not quite as good as my plug in grinder but I don't have to mess about with extension leads and can be used pretty much anywhere. 3ah batteries don't last that long before they need charging so I'm looking to get some 5ah batteries to use with it.
