Nice unit, tricky assembly
The photo showed a single control knob but the unit I received had two knobs with a push putton piezo ignitor in between. Assembly instructions are poor, mainly because the diagrams are very small so fitting of small parts such as brackets is by trial and error. The fitting of the tap orifice into the burner pipe was a concern as there were no details of how far the gas nozzle should project into the air bleed hole - other Masterchef BBQ models have a relevant diagram in the assembly instructions which can be downloaded from the Masterchef-bbq website. Operating instructions appear to be for a different control knob/piezo ignitor arrangement.
Once assembled the BBQ operates well and heats up quickly on for the "burn in". I have not tried cooking with it yet but the only problem I can see is that the burner will get covered with fat and several screws have to be removed to take off the burner and access the base for a deep clean. The unit looks smart and sits squarely on the plastic frame.
Finally, factor in a sizeable extra cost for a propane gas bottle and contents - approx £40 to hire a Calor Gas bottle and £20 for 3.5kg, about 7 litres, of liquid propane - so over £2.50 per litre. I use propane for house heating and it is about 40p a litre as a bulk delivery.
