  • Mspa Reve - Very Impressed

If you want to purchase an inflatable hot tub / spa then like me you will need to consider a few things before deciding on your purchase. I considered Intex, Lay-z-spa & Mspa. All models (Late April / Early May 2016) I decided to purchase the Mspa Reve for a number of reasons. 1. The pump / heater etc is housed within the spa so there is not an external unit. It is the control panel which is external and it is also readable and accessible whilst you are inside the spa. 2. The total diameter of this spa is 180cm - this seems to be the smallest size you can get in any makes of inflatable spa. I am nearly 6 foot and it is fine. 2 adults fit fine, 4 would too - with knees bent. 3. The depth of the spa is important - this model is approximately 70cm high so you can sit in it with a degree of privacy as you are surrounded by the sides. I went to view the lay-z-spa vegas model available to view at all homebase stores and was surprised how low it was and how reminiscent the lay-z-spa was of a paddling pool 4. This spa holds a slightly smaller amount of water (700 litres) than others, important for the overall weight and the amount of water to heat and maintain at the desired temperature. The amount it holds is more than sufficient. The weight of this with water is 750KG - lay-z-spa miami weight is over 1000KGs 5. The bubble function on the spa's!! Take a look on 'you tube' to get an idea of how noisy some of the tubs are. The Mspa is quieter but this model also has three bubble settings 300w, 500w & 720w - unlike most other inflatables which are usually around 800w (one setting) I have found I only use it on the first and second settings (300w & 500w) 6. Jet / Hydrojet - this model Mspa reve also has two panels with 2 hydro-jets which can be directed. 7. The Mspa reve - like other tubs - when you switch the bubbles on - it is effectively blowing cold water BUT - this tub heats up the water at the same time that the jest are running unlike others. The hydro jets are fairly powerful and appear to draw water in from the spa so are the same temperature as the tub water. 8. Most of the inflatable tubs include a top or lid with an inflatable skin as part of the lid. The Mspa reve has the two separate which I think is better. The lid is therefore less heavy and the inflatable skin is in direct contact with the surface of the water - better for insulation / keeping the water warm. The cover lid is then taught and attached using a zipper again much better at retaining warmth/insulation than a lid with buckles? 9. I have only seen a Lay-z-spa vegas in comparison to the Mspa reve - however the build quality is far superior on the Mpsa although you are comparing a £350 lay-z-spa with a £550 Mspa reve. Perhaps not a fair comparison but the Mspa reve just looks and feels a far more robust and sturdy tub. 10. Don't forget to think about the base of the spa - although water will give you some buoyancy you will always be sat on the base of the spa - the Msps reve feels very cushioned and it does with a bubble mat to go underneath the spa - so the base feels warm and comfortable. 11. My spa is situated in my conservatory - I discovered the Lay-z-spa Hydro jet palm springs - new model for 2016 (which doesn't have any bubbles by the way) discharges water so isn't suitable for indoor use - although it has a salt chlorinator. I did some research on these - do your own & you will find the comments they are more expensive and tend to have a shorter lifespan that traditional systems. 12. Electricity and your inflatable spa. You must ensure you have an external socket for your inflatable tub if installing it outside. The plugs on the spas are bigger than standard plugs as they incorporate RCD (circuit breakers). Do not buy one with a european plug however cheap it might be.... 13. Aftersales - if you buy new you will get a warranty on the pump / heater and the inflatable. If you buy second hand or not from an inflatable spa stockists - if you encounter an issue you will have difficulty. Most folk explain in the reviews things going wrong and it's hard enough sorting out the issue when you can contact the supplier. 14. Do your own research - think about what you want and what you need, then chose the inflatable spa that meets your needs best. 15. From what I have read spas are best placed on a level patio or other flat surface. 16. You will need to use chemicals to ensure the water doesn't harbour bacteria - get a decent kit when you buy the tub and some 3 way strips so you can test the levels in the water. 17. I bought my spa from redhottubs who sell inflatable spas on eBay. You can only communicate with them via email but they do communicate well - or they did with me. 18. Your warranty is invalid if you buy a spa of someone who has had it for a few weeks / months - buy from a reputable source - you are getting into an appliance full of water that is plugged into the mains. Don't take any risks.
