About this product

Product Information

The Last of Us: Remastered brings one of the most critically acclaimed PlayStation 3 titles of all time to the PS4 with full 1080p visuals, higher-resolution character models, and improved shadows and lighting. Remastered also offers the "Left Behind" single-player chapter that details Ellie's backstory, eight new multiplayer maps from the "Abandoned" and "Reclaimed Territories" packs, and in-game commentary from the cast and creative director. Set 20 years after the Cordyceps parasitic fungus has mutated and begun infecting people, The Last of Us puts players in the role of an amoral black-market dealer named Joel as he attempts to usher a 14-year-old named Ellie across the country to a resistance group known as the Fireflies. The journey is extremely perilous, as gamers must escape quarantined zones where martial law has been enacted, avoid infected humans, scavengers, and bandits roaming cities that have been reclaimed by nature, and elude the military, who desperately want to return Ellie to her quarantined city. Developed by Naughty Dog, the company behind Crash Bandicoot, Jak and Daxter, and Uncharted, The Last of Us represents something of a departure from those action-oriented franchises. While guns and visceral melee combat do play a large role in the game, the post-apocalyptic environment means that ammo and weapons are quite scarce. On top of that, the fungus enters through one's eyes, rendering those infected either partially or fully blind, but giving them remarkable hearing ability, so loud noises are generally inadvisable. Therefore, survival is likely to hinge as much on the use of stealth and guile as the use of guns and knives. Several other characters join Joel and Ellie during their trek, but for the most part gamers will be controlling Joel while the AI handles Ellie. Players can attempt to make their way directly through each level, but those who explore will find a variety of collectibles and objects that can be combined and used as weapons or health kits. The world does not stop when Joel goes into his backpack to craft something, however, so gamers must plan ahead or make sure they are in a secure area before crafting. The Last of Us also features a fully formed multiplayer mode, complete with in-game currency and a perk system.

A fun action adventure, that has nice graphics.

I like the story and the graphics are nicely done. The game plays like a movie that instead of just watching, you actually participate in. It is a touching and immersive experience. The characters take you on a roller coaster ride of emotion drawing you in and awakening within you, your own mortality and humanity. It highlights the challenge of regulating and handling life as it unfolds while drawing on experiences and lessons of ones past. One cannot help but sympathize and wonder how and what we might do, or how we might react if it were us in similar plight. That being said, it would have been nice if there were alternate scenarios that open up while playing based upon choices or decisions that would impact what happened next in the game. The game has a linear story line with regard to the fact that it has one set story that doesn't deviate much. Every time you play it, it will follow the same path, pretty much with the same outcome. True, you can skip by some things, but that actually diminishes the game experience. I would have liked to have been given the choice to choose between alternatives that change the plot, characters you meet, travel with, types of challenges you run up against and final outcome of the game. Doing so would keep me coming back to discover how those alternate, exciting challenging and adventurous stories might play out. Regardless, I thought the game was good and I would recommend it to others who might not simply like to watch a movie, but instead, star in it and direct it to a small degree also.

    Predictable but has its moments

I know I know we must sing the praises but I can't sing them all. First the relationship between Joel and Elle is fairly well done, it's certainly the best part of the game. I generally prefer exploring with them than solving repeating and basic puzzles or getting into combat with not zombies. I can only think of one stressful moment and it's fending off a wave of monsters until the game says you're done. The rest of the game was very easy. The stealth is very basic, even without sound generating items you can easily move around undetected and if you pay enough attention to materials the game let's you mess up way more than it should. Unfortunately the ending is incredibly predictable but at the same time you kinda don't want it to end because you value the relationship with the characters. There are a couple cool set pieces but again it's just a couple. Most of the game is just spent sneaking around solving the same basic move this here puzzles over and over. So...The gameplay wasn't compelling for me however the characters were despite guessing exactly where the relationship and story were headed in the first hour. The game has multiplayer but it's very basic and not really worth bothering with at all point (2017) With all that said it's better than the ps3 version due to the 60fps mode alone and it can be had for cheap

  • A TRUE Remastering

The Last of Us Remastered brings forth a revolutionary component to modern gaming... And while it may not bring together a collection of new items or weapons; it's remastering is within itself- how it runs and what it is. Enhanced draw distance, higher graphics, and a smoother frame rate are only the few major additions from its' ps3 version. The game's heart crushing story of survival coexist with its updated graphics and gameplay like peanut butter and jelly. The Last of Us Remastered is a epitome of video game masterpieces and is our shining example of how in a world of first person shooters and battle royale, that the 3rd person survival horror experience continues to live on. Playing the game since 2013, and seeing it cross to the ps4, truly shows Naughty Dog's gift of fully realized characters, an addictive story, and carefully detailed post apocalyptic world that's sure to make any gamer hooked. The story of our values as humans, facing the realest of monsters such as ourselves, and our abilities to survive matched with our willingness to survive are all key themes that will sure hook you into this game truly made for the most experienced and immersive of gamers.

  • I played it again a year or two later.

Not sure when I bought this game - whenever it first came out. The characters are quite believable. The story is a bit out there, but I guess I wouldn't like it as much otherwise. A few of the ones you get endeared to don't make the end of the game, but again, it makes it more realistic. There are a couple of good-guy/bad-guy fights that are quite difficult to complete. I'm sure the youngsters will disagree, but they were for me. I had to google a couple times to find out the 'secret' to getting past a scene a few times. Even then, I got 'killed' more than once each time before I stumbled my way through. The graphics are very good. smooth movement and no blurring. There are a few beautiful scenes, I won't say where and ruin it. The animals are extremely realistic as well. I loved the horses. I remembered this game recently and repurchased it. I have since decided to keep all my Xbox and PS4 games. If decide to play them again in the future, I won't have to pay again. Plus, selling one gets you only a fraction of what you paid. I usually insist on me games being new, unopened. I decided to try buying this one used, via eBay. Glad I did, it works fine and there's always the ebay guarantee. The title infers it, but in case - this is a post-apocalyptic genre. There are several major areas in the game to work your way through. City, country, small town etc. All fun.

  • This Will go down in Gaming history as a legendary masterpiece.

This is an extremely immersive story, although I'm very new to the PlayStation Gamingcommunity this is one of the few games that have and will always leave a lasting impression on me. Although some may argue that it may actually be an interactive movie I would have to disagree 90% of the time, The action scenes, the emotional seems, it has you involved in every single step of the story making it feel more than just something for your viewing pleasure in shorts, a masterpiece.

  • Revisiting In Preparation...

This game, to me, can be considered as the game of all games. It barely nudges out Witcher 3 by a hair as the all-time greatest game... ever.. This game was so cinematic, compelling and dramatic that it is the only game that my girlfriend would sit next to me and watch me play as if it was a movie playing out in front of her. I would play multiple play-throughs and she would sit there and start saying the coming dialogue before the characters. That's how many times she would watch me play. She is the antithesis of a gamer so this should be an indicator of how captivating this title is. The sequel is just around the corner so I wanted to revisit TLOU in preparation. You should too.

  • No wonder it won so many awards

Excellent game, compelling story, great graphics, great voice acting, pretty intuitive gameplay and just EXCELLENT excellent overall game. I was on the fence about purchasing this one, and I never expected to enjoy such a story-based game, but it has quickly become one of the best games I've ever had the fortune to play. The story had me in literal tears by the end of the tutorial.

  • Life changing

My wife was going to leave me, my dog was sick and on deaths door, the battery died in my car and I lost my jumper cables, my crockpot shorted out and burned my enchilada casserole, and I had this rash that was just getting worse and worse. Then I bought this game. My wife left me, my dog died, my car is sitting on the street and the parking tickets are piling up, I am on a steady diet of Taco Bell and tap water, and nobody has seen me in weeks so I've avoided the shame of my elephant skin. But it's worth it! This game is so good!

  • Perfect

I’ve played TLOU about 5 or 6 times already, it was time to get the remastered version already. Still getting used to 60fps since my eyes hurt a bit but it’s getting better. It’s got the Left Behind DLC included. Price is great. If you’re wondering if it’s worth it to get The Last Of Us again...it is. Naughty dog deserves it, they did a hell of a job with the best game ever.

  • Great PS4 Game title.

Great game. Really brings out the ps4. Played on both the regular ps4 and the PRO both were outstanding as far as graphics, sound, and speed in the game. Has an interesting story line. If you liked it when you played it on the original ps3 then you'll really like the remastered versions graphics.
