Atmospheric modern thriller
I'd seen this movie before, but wanted it for my library. Any used DVD that works without incident rates 5 stars to me. Incidentally, I also recommend the "Honest Trailer" on "Gone Girl" available on YouTube.

not nearly as good as the book
Having read the book first, I found the movie to be disappointing. It was hard to follow the changes in the plot line as it veered back and forth in time and character sequences. My husband did not read the book and found the story line almost impossible to follow. Also, overall, the movie itself was very dark and difficult to see clearly. I do not recommend it.

Only liking this movie would be an understatement
To me this movie you can't only just like it...honestly I became so obsessed with the crafting of it that I read the book it was based on. Well worth the money spent when wanting a good thriller movie.

Must watch several times to really appreciate this movie
You just can't imagine the end of this movie, you think you know what is going on and then the truth is so surreal there is no way any one, in their right mind, could ever figure it out. This is the type of movie you have to see more than once because there are so many little clues you just can't notice them if you watch it only once.

Very well done, true to the book.
Of course when i read the book I thought it was written with a movie in mind. The producers didn't screw it up, they stayed faithful to the book, it didn't need "improving" or embellishment. I thought character portrayal was dead on accurate. Well worth it.

Oddly fun movie
A good movie, over the top acting,in a good way, acting particularly from Rosamund pike, who seems to he chaneling Faye dunaway from Chinatown and Kathleen Turner from Serial Mom in a great scenery chewng performance !
