Solid, fun console with a high potential risk

I purchased a Parts Only New 3DS. Fortunately, I know how 3DSes work, and I do have a working XL model, so I'm pretty sure I know what I'm talking about. Pros: >The console feels sturdy. Way sturdier than even the New 3DS XL. >Custom faceplates allow users to add their own flair to the console, and I love that. >Its button coloring looks phenomenal. I would LOVE to see one in a Super Famicom style. Cons: >Like I said, mine is broken. However, repairs are uncertain, and Nintendo has told me you may be "upgraded" to a New 2DS XL. (In my opinion, the New 2DS XL is a major DOWNGRADE compared to the New 3DS. The N2DSXL is much more prone to cosmetic wear.) >Finding custom faceplates can be a chore, however there are some (say, solid colors) that are relatively cheap. >The small size can be a pain for bigger hands. However, I had no trouble with it. Overall, I find the New Nintendo 3DS to be a solid, fun console. However, the potential risk is high if it breaks, as you may be getting an inferior console back.

    Everything was fine... until...

I was so excited when I recieved my 3DS. I looks nice, looks extremely brand new. The only disappointment is when I first recieved it and turned it on. . . I heard a couple of popping sounds from it. After those sounds, it went away. Now that I actually have the time to play it... the popping sounds in the speakers become more frequent and the screen freezes and everything becomes unresponsive. I can't have a 3DS like this.

  • It looks beautiful

I hadn’t upgraded my 3ds before and had the original aqua blue one since 2011, this is a breath of fresh air and I just love the idea of color plates and I just had to get the white one. It’s the best 3ds model imo.

I guess it’s a bit old at this point, but the hinge is super wobbly. Also not sure how it’s North American and also Japanese, but I don’t understand these things. But the rest of the device is in great condition, so that’s good.

  • One of the Best N3DS Revisions...that Nintendo screwed up Releasing in North America

This version of the N3DS from its family of systems is by far, one of the best ones that I ever had the honor of playing with. I just wish that Nintendo of America wasn't stupid and just released this version of the system, around the time they brought the XL version of this stateside. They did release it in America, but they still screwed that up by only making it available through special editions and a Black Friday deal, back in 2016. Anyway, this system itself is great, but this is technically the most expensive N3DS you can get IF you add in the customizable faceplates, which was the major reason why everyone wanted this system in the first place, well that and because it looks pretty. Prices for the faceplates of this system definitely vary online, but if you're looking into some of the more rarer ones like the Pokemon 20th Anniversary ones and the Japan-themed ones, oohhh sweet mercy. But if you ignore that and just want the system itself, then go for it.

  • "New" Nintendo 3Ds

The product and price are both very good. It also came the day promised evening knowing it took forever to ship. This was for my sons 7th birthday and he loves it. Thank you.

  • A great version of the 3DS

Super glad to get into the 3DS library. It came with really clean and subtle Mario plates, and I love the touch with the colored buttons. It's also very lightweight in the hands and very portable. Definitely worth having!

The New Nintendo 3DS, as opposed to the more common (in the US) New 3DS XL, is a gem. Compact, well-built, and good-looking, with customizable faceplates! Unless you *need* the larger XL device, this is easily the best of Nintendo’s 3DS lineup.

  • Overpriced second gen gaming

Wonderful console that has held up excellent over the years minus internet implementation being removed, price is just too far above MSRP

3DS smells like it just smoked a pack of cigarettes. Also its kind of grimey. Surprisingly the screen is less yellowed than the shell. Other than these fixable complaints, its runs fine, speakers work well. Haven't checked the wireless capabilities yet. 4.5/5
