Week one with Mi Box
Very impressed with Xiaomi, box is well built beautifully designed performs brilliantly. 'Android TV' is very slick and easy to use but is however still in it's infancy. Google have done a great job so far but still have some catching up to do. Play store not carrying full complement of apps yet but for now the box does everything I need (kodi mobdro chrome cast etc). Great Product but let down by lack of Apps
Was very difficult to find apps for this that work. Had to scour the free android APK sites to get older versions of apps that this supports, like the Amazon Prime Video. Some apps will only work with an air mouse, which I had to buy separately. And after auto updates, official apps started to malfunction when it came to their system integration, such as video bookmarks. Things like voice assistant aren't fully formed but this platform does have a future, and the User Interface is quick and looks good. I recommend this to geeky types for now, who know their way around the Android ecosystem, but it won't please those who consume a lot of streaming video and music services. Mi Box 4k Android 6.0
I have been using the Mi Box for a few weeks now and I am impressed with its performance. One gripe is the inability to change the home screen display very much. It is my only gripe. Best if the bunch and a bargain too
I bought this to replace a home theatre pc running Kodi, Netflix, Plex etc. I couldn't be happier with it. Android TV is a great unsung platform. Setup was incredibly fast using Google account details and WiFi passwords from my phone, I was up and running in minutes. The device shows up as a media player over hdmi on my old Brazil TV so it'd possible to use my telly remote. Not that I would as you can't talk into that one or just use your phone. This thing is a much better tool for the job than my old windows pc even with an ir blaster I was always having to reach for the keyboard to get anything done. Google cast support means if there isn't an android TV app available you've still got a way to get your media on the screen. Poor for apps
Works ok for kodi but you can't add apps as you would expect on any android based system. I can't add my existing VPN app which means my kodi experience is limited. Very simple to use.
