Panasonic HD freeview play recorder +++

my factory reconditioned box was in very good condition and was boxed as though brand new. set up was so easy as box leads you through set up and as i fitted a good loft arial the box picked up 100+ channels some duplicated as about 10 HD. the electronic programming is easy to search about a week ahead and set recording single or whole series. also has all the internet apps that it gets access to from my WIFI. love this new box and saving £80 a month now without cable TV and not missing the other channels. these HD freeview recorder do what they say they do as long as you have a decent TV and signal.

  • Most critical review

This DMR-DMR HWT150EB was faulty out of the box see video.

I was busy and didn't test this for several days as I presumed it would be perfect. However it is far from it, there seems to be a fault that turns the unit off and back on randomly resulting in a film being split into 120 separate recordings with bits missing. What a shame we can't use VHS tapes anymore and keep our fav stuff on a shelf and lend them to friends. If you buy a Humax it has far more video outputs like Scart and Phono which makes a Humax easier to connect to a PC video capture devise and older TV's with fewer HDMI sockets. I have just bought this to replace my 10 year old Humax which is still working better than this Panasonic. go to youtube watch?v=BLBpnMwee70

  • Top Performer

Excellent Panasonic PVR offering great picture quality in standard and HD, easy to follow menu and very good EPG, Able to record 2 HD programmes at once and good quality remote control. A great performing machine which also offers network connections such as You Tube and BBC iPlayer . This Panasonic is amongst the best in the field and easily surpassed my expectations and cost far less than a brand new device. Has all the Freeview functions such as Freeview Play and Netflix. Excellent and high quality HDD recorder. Recommended.

  • It's not Sky+, but it's the next best thing...

Not had any problems to date. Previous we had Sky+ which in my opinion is as good as it gets when it comes to ease of use, but the Panasonic is pretty intuitive and seems reliable. Positives: Everything is where you'd expect and the Freeview Play feature which allows you to browse back in time from the guide for 'catch-up' programmes without having to go to each individual app (iPlayer etc), is very useful. Negatives: It can be a little slow to respond at times, and I do miss the ability to move up and down a page at a time when using the guide or moving a day forward or backwards when trying to set something in the future to record, but other than that it's been great, and far better than what we had built-in to our TV.

  • My old recorder died - long live Panasonic!

This is my third purchase of an HDD recorder and by far the best. It was easy to set up, the instructions were, for a change, readable and easy to understand. It seems to have all the features that I was looking for and is very simple to set a recording, play back and imput series programmes. So far, so good. I'm very pleased with the purchase.

  • Very pleased.

I have now owned my PANASONIC DMR-HWT150EB Freeview Play Smart Digital TV Recorder for over six weeks and I am very pleased with it. However, 1. Sometimes it does not switch on. The “POWER LED/Remote control signal indicator” just flashes continuously. I found that I can remedy this by switching it off at the mains and switching it back on again. In the Operating Instructions it says that it can sometimes be slow but I would expect it to start eventually. 2. I cannot make sense of the value of time remaining which is displayed on the screen as “Remain HDD”. It never differs much from 129 DR which is the full value for High Definition quality. Neither of these is a problem.

  • New freeview recorder.....

I wanted to give five stars the only thing is that it's slightly complicated at first, Only compared to the previous freeview recorder,, Which was a more expensive Sony, I didn't read instructions, Sort of worked it out as I went along (as usual), I actually ordered the box for my mum and I had to show her round the box which was a bit difficult at times, She is now quite pleased with it, The boxes we had in the past had a better TV guide and was very pleased with the media player, Plays both mp4 and mkv files and you can transfer files and store to the box, The box has a very sharp picture compared to older Boxes we owned, One thing I'm not too keen on is that if you copy from USB card files to box it stores them somewhere else rather than with your tv recordings which is fine for me but, wasn't so easy to explain to mum, The box as a bit more going on than were used to but all in all would recommend it as a media player and freeview recorder but haven't used it with WiFi, And I did fined it a bit awkward to cancel a recording it's not that straight forward, Hope I have helped and I wouldn't want to put anyone off from buying one at all, It's the best box we have had and I would buy one for my self but maybe a 1TB version, As value that depends on how long it lasts before mum needs a new one, The last box lasted 3 maybe 4 years that's not long enough, Expect longer with a bit of luck, OK.....

  • As good as new, and easy to set up.

This recorder has ticked all our boxes! Despite being repaired/refurbished it looks and performs as good as new. Easy to setup, including the link to our Wi-Fi. Quality of the video is fine and it does all that it says it should. Very pleased. Dave of Bristol.

  • Better than my old TIVO.

I found my TIVO box slow, expensive, and unreliable. This Panasonic box was easy to set up and does everything that I need. The most pleasing thing is the much improved picture quality when compared to the TIVO. I am very satisfied with the Panasonic .
