More stable, faster, fewer ads, no more annoying big blue light
I had the standard firmware Plusnet router (same hardware) and it dropped connection regularly, several times a week. This one hasn't at all yet (a week in). You need to read up on configuration settings, but the ability to fine tune is great. Seller support was rapid, friendly, and very helpful, above and beyond obligations. WiFi connections have greater range, and connect almost instantly, whereas the standard router firmware took ages. Wifi on the standard firmware often stopped working on mobile devices and required the user device WiFi to be toggled to wake it up, no such problems now. You can also turn off that annoying big blue light, and you can set your own DNS (option disabled on the standard firmware). DNS is the background router service that converts web numbers to human readable names for websites. Setting your own means that you can block annoying ads from the router (search for AdGuard DNS), so that any device connected has less ads. It's not perfect, but a lot of annoying pop ups have gone. You can even change the 5g WiFi connection to have slightly greater range, but that took a lot of reading! Highly highly recommend both product and seller.Verified purchase: YesCondition: Pre-owned
