Heavier than other Kindles, Lightning fast computing!
When I got the tablet, it came in a box similar to a VHS tape sleeve. Having read that it was six inches in size, it finally hits you when you compare it to the preceding kindles. Its the smallest of all of them and surprisingly a bit heavier and thicker than the last one. But if you can get by the "size of a paperback screen", its lightning fast, full of extras and the rear camera has excellent definition. The buttons are in new places as well as the power jack, takes a bit to get used to them. Just be aware that some stock pics are of a 7" model (and there are 3 different 7" models fyi). The lower price reflects this unit very well, and with the screen resolution and fast processor it is a good value. Eight hours of battery life is pretty good, might get more if the battery saver is turned on.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Who would have thought?

A smaller, entry level workhorse.
Other than the Amazon Fire ads on my unit, which are intrusive, this 6" Fire meets a variety of needs. Silk is a snappy browser. And multiple browsing windows/multitasking works fine. Though a little thick, tablet fits looser men's shirt and jeans pockets (though front jeans pocket carry is a bit too much for sitting). This was a major reason for going with this now discontinued size. It has replaced my Surface RT as my casual, go-to browsing device. Being portable and wifi accessible, it allows me to function well while tethered to older, smaller smartphones, enabling me to side-step the race to ever larger smartphone screens. Downside is it does not have access to Google Play, but the Amazon approved apps cover most of my needs at present. At the right price, this is a perfect little tablet
When updated to the latest Fire OS and then "tweaked" a little to have Google Play Store running on it, this is a VERY nice little portable device. I have used it to download Netflix content onto and take it with me on planes - it has Bluetooth and a headphone jack, and if you add a cover/stand, it is the perfect size to take to watch movies on the plane with. The screen is outstanding! The only drawback would be that there is no micro SD slot, so you are limited to the ~14G of storage for apps and data, but if you manage that well, it's a very convenient and capable piece of gear. I love this 6" Kindle Fire
Perfect size little tablet! Fits in your pocketbook or coat pocket. Use for reading books and also for a tablet. Fast and 'zippy'. Good battery life. I do not know about games as as I do not play games but it does get all the basic apps plus more. You can watch reviews on You Tube to learn more about that. ( It uses a Silk Browser and does not have Google Play Store.) There are a lot of nice covers and cases that fit it online at Amazon. The Perfect SMALL Travel Companion for Streaming
I love it, because I have many size screens for video, but wanted a compact size, and did not want to use my phone every day for streaming. This is great for streaming, but due to limited internal memory, you are not able to download many shows to watch in your library. Also.....there is no way to expand the memory, but for the 30 bucks I paid for it, I have no complaints. It was in almost new condition. I've bought a lot of Amazon Fire tablets, including the 6", 7", 8", kid's tablet over the years, but for my personal use nothing is better than the 6" tablet. I bought a new one through eBay because Amazon discontinued this item and had no reconditioned 6" tablets available. It's just the right size for my hands and to fit in my purse or pocket. I actually even prefer it to the Apple iPad I have at work. It's a shame that Amazon stopped making this model, but I'm very happy to find one to buy on eBay.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

It works great for the right size and portable viewing
I bought this because I had walked into Frys Electronics and saw this model and the Fire HDX 8. The eight felt to big, weighty and priced kind of high for what I was looking for. The Fire HD 6 felt just right and size, price and feel was what I was looking for. The apps. I needed were there and for casual entertainment viewing it is perfect. I use Sling TV, Netflix, the normal social media apps. YouTube and all the benefits of being an Amazon Prime member. I use it in conjunction with a Hype Bluetooth speaker box for excellent sound. Kindle HD6
This is my second HD6. I dropped my first one on a concrete floor and cracked the screen. It is one straight crack, so it is now a game handheld. 8 GB space was used up quickly. If it was just my eReader, it would have been okay at 8GB. I definitely wish the HD6 allowed for an SD microcard, so I decided to spend a little extra and buy the 16GB. The HD6 is great and I would recommend it to anyone who needs a 6" screen size handheld. I bought my second HD6 on Ebay and it arrived refurb'd exactly as described. Great tablet
I got it because the screen, it's said that it has the most accurate color gamut, considering the Amazon support in apps and the fact that you are not forced to use a google account it was to me a non brainer purchase! there are not every app in the amazon appstore but you can install them anyway in manual mode. The size is perfect!
