I recommend based on the tight seal this container gas. However it is a lot smaller than it appears. It only holds a limited amount as it is not deep. So for pantry storage it doesn't rate well. I purchased the Rubbermaid Brilliance 9.6 cup Food storage container for my daughter. I have one and I love it! It's amazing how long things stay fresh and it's nice and sturdy and easy to clean. The cover has a nice, tight seal. I put salad in mine frequently and it stays fresh for a few days if I don't get to eat it.
