Reviews"...Sounds like it could have come from '80s Davis offering like STAR PEOPLE and DECOY, showing that Davis wasn't above repackaging his own ideas for folks who missed the point the first time around....intense...", 4 out of 5 - "...Essential....colorful and exotic...BIG FUN is just that....representing the high water mark of his experiments in the fusion of rock, funk, electronica and jazz..."

  • Miles burns down the house.

There are some wonderful things on this album. My favourite track is 'Recollections' (which wasn't on the original single album release... Although I can't imagine why).. If Talk Talk's 'Spirit of Eden' is to your taste listen to this track... It predates Talk Talk by about 15 years and is so full of inventive soundscapes... like watching a surreal painting come alive.. Other favourite tracks are Go ahead John (featuring some astounding sounds from John Mclaughlin) and Lonely fire... Miles Davis was always pushing barriers and this album is up there with his very best.

  • Double disc compilation stuffed full of great music

Originally released in 1974 this collection didn't really get the recognition it deserved until after it's 2000 reissue. Recording sessions between 1969-72 are collected here, 2000 reissue adds extra material. it all has a cohesive eastern vibe tied together with Miles signature Harmon muted trumpet something he had largely stopped using for a number of years. The sound is very much from the electric period of material with shades of 'Bitches brew', 'On the corner' & 'Jack Johnson' so if you are a fan of that period you will enjoy this.
