HEED Poland. Upper and lower crash bars for BMW R 1200 GS manufactured from 2004 to 2012. Painting: powder coated. In case total nett price of the order is Stylish design not only protects, but also looks good on the motorcycle.
To date they seem to be good quality and once you have worked out how they fit , the pictures on the instructions are fairly worthless . Of the two small bolts, the long on goes in the left side , and the short the right. Fitting the left side bolt is is a pain as access is a problem. You may need to rubber mount the two U-bolts and the torque for the back big bolts of 55 nm, the front ? but they are smaller so hand tight and not to many white knuckles . the instructions give no values for any of the bolts . The cross bar linking the two sections is 'interesting ' access to the bolt heads is fine in the right and awful on the left , no idea why that is , and you have to use an alley key not a driver has you cannot get direct access.
Do one side at a time , engine bars , than upper bars , the plastic side panels can be got on and off but its a squeeze taken them from the top and rotating them around .
The Heed crash bars are of a good standard of construction given to what some may say on utube, they are constructed of a heavy gauge steel with what appears to be a painted finish, being of steel construction just keep in mind the weight which when assembled can seem heavy ,but considering what the are built for, it would be difficult to manufacture such a set of bars offering this level of protection in any other metal, one thing to keep in mind, should any riding having a BMW r1200gs have a decay after market set of down pipes fitted, your more than likely going to find that the Heed bars won't fit, at least the bottom section in this case, this is because the width of the after market down pipes are wider, measuring something like 355mm approximately , this causes a problem , when fitting the cylinder protects on the after market pipes you will find that the bottom fixing bracket sits directly above the lamda sensors fitting point which makes it impossible to the lamda sensors, there's no way around this unfortunately unless you were to take on some reengineering of the bars which I think would effect the strength of the bars.
