Works great! Might require some repair to smooth out rattling noises.
I would recommend this product to anyone that needs and extra bit of help ignoring noise while trying to sleep. It took my hyper active brain a few days to get used to it but it is now a solid part of my routine. As soon as I turn it on at night I go right to sleep. That being said, this little buddy is just a glorified fan and not particularly hardy, so it may not be worth the price if you can adquire/have need of a loud fan. The first thing I had to do when I got it was open it up (it comes open quite easily) to fix an obnoxious rattling sound. I just had tighten the bolt holding the fan blades in place to keep them from rattling about and it now runs smoothly. Not the same Marpac Dohm machines
Still likely the best white noise machine out there, but the Marpac brand has taken a turn for the "less". Cheaper parts, cord not color coordinated with the unit, fan motor is noisy. The "Whoosher" is wonderful
I love this machine! It makes the perfect "whooshing" sound (hubby calls it the Whoosher). The sound is much like a big fan or small window AC (minus the compressor kicking on every 5 minutes). It drowns out ALL of the noise from the rest of the house, which is good, since our bedroom borders the kitchen and we are night shift workers in a house of day walkers. Its soothing, doesn't have that tinny sound electronic sound machines make and it blocks out surrounding noises like dishes clinking, cabinets slamming in the kitchen. Good sleep finally possible
Dogs all around us were destroying my husband's sleep and affecting his health. Now he doesn't hear them at all, waking up refreshed. This is used together with nature sound machine, which did the job for years by itself until all the surrounding dogs got together and decided to bark all night. Old school is best!
I've used on of these for the last 40 years. They are built to last, simple, made in USA. Unlike the newer digital machines that offer several "natural" sounds, this doesn't have a cycle of sound that you eventually notice and then fixate on, defeating the purpose of the machine. The Perfect Sleep Aid

Amazing sleep
