Build quality better than expected, worked exceptionally well after being slightly modified.
I made this purchase after a large tree fell in my garden and needed to clean up the mess myself. This product seems to be available under different branding and in different colours. The supplied instructions were easy to follow and assembly could be carried out without reading the leaflet. The only minor thing during set up was that the nuts securing each wheel need to be tightened fully to avoid them undoing during use (vibration?). The motor is deafeningly loud (rated at 108db) so you need to wear ear defenders when using it. During the first use, I had a couple of jams, due to the plastic roller bar that is located within the opening below the rotating blade. The roller is secured by four security screws and I removed it which did not seem to have any ill effect. Once the roller was removed I never had a single jam afterwards as the debris was no longer impeded from emptying into the chipping box. Took a while to get used to using this shredder but once I did, I was able to dispense with a VERY large pile of branches that had been sorted by thickness (under 4cm diameter) and without foliage (leaves WILL jam up around the centre of the rotating blades). A spare set of blades were supplied and they can also be rotated. I used this for several hours and the blades seemed to remain sharp throughout. If there is a jam, then the motor changes sound, slows down OR shuts off the power if something has gone wrong (like an overfilled chipping box). Id recommend this only if you have sufficient use for it because the price is such that you could hire a more powerful unit with a thicker branch capacity for slightly less money.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Looks good but doesn't do what you expect it to do. A real disappointment.
Bought to feed the garden compost heap but doesn't do what I expected it to do. You cannot feed it with green cuttings fresh from the hedge, they just block it up. Anything that hasn't dried out or been dead for months just blocks it up. There isn't easy access to the cutter (for safety reasons) to unblock it so cleaniing any blocking up becomes a tedious and repetetive job. When the material beiing fed into it is dry and dead it does a reasonable job so long at the cuttings are long, straight and have no shoots sticking out of the stem as this also blocks it up. You are much better off buying a cheap electric rotary mower with a grass box, putting your twigs and cuttings on the lawn and running over them with the mower. This will chop stuff up without so much hassle and aggrevation.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Okay for the price
This shredder is like most low cost power tools from the far east in that it pays to understand how to drive it. Generally it works quite well but don't rush it as it will clog up if too much is stuffed in too quickly, especially leafy material. This isn't helped by having a totally pointless shaft with some wheels located in the chute which drops the shredded matter to into the bin.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Considering the price, an excellent garden accessory. Easy to assemble and use. Cleared two big buddlea bushes with ease and my twisted willow prunings containing branches was also no problem. Very good but noisy and needs modification.
Works well and chops garden waste to a small size. Clogs very easily though until the roller is removed from the bottom. It is held in place by security screws to prevent you from removing it but needle nosed pliers removed the screws. The roller serves no purpose that I can see other than causing the machine to clog. The cutter head swings clear to allow easy access to clear clogging and the machine will not start until cutter head is secured back in place. It is much noisier than my previous shredder and you should budget for some good quality ear defenders to go with the machine. The noise may annoy neighbours so that is another thing to consider. It may say that it draws in the waste bit I found that waste mostly had to be gently pushed in with the very good supplied pusher.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Excellent bit of kit.
Shredder arrived today and put straight to work. Although quite noisy dealt with large Bush I had cut down. Dealt easily with branches around one inch diameter and anything smaller. Used the supplied paddle to push bent pushes into the machine, the machine ran continually for an hour or so and did not jam or cut out once. . Have read all the reviews and would suggest those criticising it expectations were way above what the stated performance is. As for those suggesting removing the large bracket above the cutters to increase its performance, words fail me. It's there for a reason and removing it is extremely dangerous and unnecessary. ideal for small garden use
Garden shredder comes complete with collection box. It has an adjustable blade for cutting branches and is very quiet equaul noise to your average lawn mower. A really useful tool
We opened the box yesterday....so have used it once- it's robust but light. The simple design is helpful. It turned a large pile of shrub prunings into a fragrant box of fine mulch ( our mock orange amongst other things has bit hit badly by frost) An old washing up brush with the power turned off wash ideal for unbunging occasionally. looks good heavy duty small throat soon blocks,
this product is the worst decision I have made in buying any tool.The shredder looks good and man enough to tackle basic hedge cuttings,this one can't. it's big and strong but the throat is not big enough and so small twigs and leaves cause jamming,even with small hand full of cuttings I was only able to get 5-10 minutes before having to open the machine and unblock the chute.Ihave a lot of cuttings to get through and its taking an age.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New
