Too Short
The basket picks up the nuts great. My problem was that it was about a foot short in length since I am close to six foot tall. It caused me to have to bend over a little to use it with both hands and after an extended length of time, it caused my lower back to ache a little. For a shorter person, it would be just fine. I bought the large to pick up black walnuts. I can roll over and pick up some and then a few will get stuck between the wires, holding them apart just enough allowing some of the already captured nuts to fall out. There doesn’t seem to be a number you can call, so I went on their website and emailed the company asking if the medium sized roller would be large enough for walnuts since the large one seems too large or if this is a typical issue (maybe mine is a little defective). I still haven’t heard back from them a week later. A rake and a set of those rake hand things would be cheaper and quicker than buying this. If you want to save your back this is the tool for you. It has a flexible spring steel cage that you roll over nuts, seed pods and a myriad of small items. They are contained in the cage and it is very easy to empty them out into another container. It works beautifully on my black walnuts. It looks like I am vacuuming them up off the ground. I got this because I hate raking up the apples from my apple tree. It works great! Even gets them out of the rocks. Just roll it over, then hold it over the basket and push the slide handle down and it opens up and they pour out. Sure is a lot easier. Nut, nuts and more nuts!
We live in a mobile park with hazel nut trees, oak trees and chipmunks. I garden and hate the nuts, acorns and chipmunks. But since getting this valuable tool I find less nut shells all over my yard and less chipmunks. You can't go wrong with this thingy.
I had my doubts that this would replace my current Jaws black walnut picker. Boy was I wrong. This is the Cats As- and greatest thing since sliced bread. You can tell I'm old.. I expected it to get full of leaves and twigs and not work well. I never had a problem. I put 22 to 30 nuts in each roll. It performed fantastic. I cleaned up my neighbors yard in no time. His tree gets smaller nuts but about 3K this year. A most prolific season as last year no nuts. I wondered how it would do on my tree that has very large black walnuts. It worked great but it picked up some rotting pears once in awhile. Next year I will rake the old pears out of the way before the walnuts drop. It got cold and the wheel would not spin as well so I oiled the ends it spins on and it again free wheeled as before. By not spinning easy it effected the open empty feature because it would not hit the wires the same for maximum open. I've only had it for 10 days. I have five 55 gallon drums to process. The Weasel is a magnificent invention well worth the money and would make a nice Christmas gift or other occasion gift.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Doesn't collects as I expected.
First off, the handle is too short for a 5'11 guy like myself. I had to bend my back and roll over the gumballs multiple times to get it to catch. Better off and faster doing it the old fashioned way. Getting a rake and snow shovel and putting them in a bag or container is the preferred fastest way. Very helpful for when you get dumped on by black walnut trees
Its a very good product so far. I dont want to rare its quality yet because its new. Good value is in the eye of the beholder. If you have several nut trees then this is a great deal no questio. If you have just one don't, well it depends on how much bending over and hard work you want to avoid.
