We like the instant separation of headband from light unit, when required and without having to adjust anything. The light can be switched though several white & red modes simply - just remember to press and hold the button when you want to swap from white to red and back again. Waterproofing has yet to be tested, but the design seems unlikely to leak in normal use. As with ALL battery-powered items these days, I would STRONGLY recommend that ONLY Energizer Lithium AAA batteries are installed - as the current crop of copper tops and even the previously reliable Energizer Alkaline AAA, AA, C and D cells ALL LEAK - even when still retaining enough charge to make you think they're good. It's all to do with relieving internal pressure before rupture point is reached, if one battery in a set is of a lower capacity than the others in that set, after replacing all in the set with (supposedly), "New" cells... ALL ALKALINES LEAK. ...But Lithium cells do not - probably due to the toxic nature of their electrolyte..!
Anyway, as LED head lights go, this one is compact, lightweight, simple and rugged enough for any outdoor activity.
