Great sound, great connectivity
I bought this to replace a Marantz PM5004, which is a very well regarded amp. It got a fantastic review in What HiFi and I wanted the receiver and streaming features. Well it completely eclipsed the Marantz, especially in the lower register. And it really brought the best out of my pair of Cambridge Audio floorstamders. The DAC is very agile, and better than the one built in to my Marantz CD5004, which is now just being used as a transport. The What HiFi review said the phono stage was mediocre and that is true, but a modestly priced phono stage such as the £ 50 projekt box sorts that out. A USB input for a direct link to a computer (it only has USB for a connection to a USB drive) would have perfected the connectivity, but a USB to SPDIF converter means my computer can also make use of that DAC. Spotify is very easy to use via a mobile app or the computer. I haven't tried other services. It streams well from iTunes or Windows media player, the DAB tuner is great. The mobile app to drive all this is perfectly serviceable and easy to use. Overall What HiFi described it as the bargain of the year, and I have to agree, especially if you buy it from a German supplier where it is £450 rather than the £550 UK price!Verified purchase: YesCondition: New
