NOT a cheap camera!
For a small point-and-shoot-type camera, this is not cheap. THAT'S because it isn't truly a point-and-shoot (P&S.)
It CAN be used to simply 'P&S', but actually the menu is almost frightening, there are so many items that you can, if you wish, adjust.
This is actually a high class camera that the manufacturer has managed to package into a small space. Hallelujah!
Before this I had a another P&S type camera, also mirror-less, a Fujifilm X100S, a truly great camera. I loved it. But it went 'wrong'. Something inside went wonky and whenever you depressed the button to focus it gave you greenish flashes across the screen. They didn't show up in still pictures, but did in videos. So I had to sell it, and actually didn't do badly since I got AU$406 for it, even after telling prospective buyers of the problem!
That was actually a bit of a blessing, although I did of course lose money: The used value, after 3.5 years, was still AU$750, but I was satisfied. (BTW the Fuji repair quote was $717..) But although I loved it, it was not perfect for me: I really wanted a camera with most of the 'stuff' in it, but somewhat smaller and with a short zoom, and that's what I got! This Sony fit the bill.
The two things I didn't get though, were the special filters that come with the Fuji X100; toy camera, pop camera, etc, some don't like them but I do; and of course the wonderful hybrid EVF; I must admit THAT is a loss -- might even go back to a Fuji X100 because of it, although surely someone else will come out with it soon?
Still, I think the Sony is a great little unit, which has a large sensor in it, and THAT'S important.
