The McCulloch M51-140WR mower sports a robust steel body, large rare wheels, and sturdy rubber-padded handlebars. It runs on a 1900 Watt motor, and has a steel blade that provides a 20-inch cutting width, and a 1.18-3.54-inch cutting height. Equipped with a mulching kit, the mower shreds grass and uses it as a fertilizer to nourish the soil of the lawn. Great engine, easy starter, let down by poor design of the mower.
Starts easily, cuts grass well. But.... the height adjusters are poor, if you mow near or under shrubs expect to lose the plastic lever covers & to readjust the height frequently as the front height adjusters have poor locators & slip out far too easily. The rear height adjuster is a little better, easy to operate from a single handle but again takes little encouragement to drop to the lowest setting. Guaranteed to scalp the lawn before you notice! The other main PIA is the drive. According to the 'instructions' you have to roll the machine forward 4" after releasing the drive handle to allow it to disengage the drive. Which takes a little practice, releasing before you get where you need to be, especially uphill or up to obstructions. Its heavy to push (I bought a self propelled because of my knees!) & you can feel & hear the drive all the time when the engine is not running if you're pulling or pushing. My other gripe is the grass box, the opening is too small, when you tip it up to empty, the grass slumps forward & blocks the opening so you end up pulling it out by hand. I'm very glad I didn't pay the full price, if I had I'd want my money back, for the cheap price I paid I'll put up with these crap design features.Verified purchase: YesCondition: Pre-owned

Amazing vslue
The mower arrived in a large box and looked like it was brand new, which is amazing. I added fuel and it started first time. It propelled nicely with the ability to push it manually if you want. It’s easy to change the height of the blades and the grass collector is light and well shaped to make emptying the grass easier. Perfect mower for me.
This is quite a heavy duty mower but is not as heavy as you think it would be. I have a lot of lawn which is not suitable for a ride on mower. This unit has 5 cut heights it cuts picks up grass cleanly and has a good sized grass box. It does not have a throttle used by the operator but I prefer not to have one. It has a prime and pull start system which is easy to use, my 10 year old can actually start it. I was surprised at how little fuel it used and the filler cap is above the highest point of the engine so less chance of grass or other debris falling in. The handle will fold a two points for storage purposes but please ensure the locking knobs are tightened before use as they can come lose and the bolts can be short and hard to find. the wheels are individually height adjustable which I have used to have one side set higher than the other to allow an even cut. It comes without oil so please ensure you fill it with oil before commencing to mow.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New
