It works and it's cheap, but the Palmolive shave stick is far better
Used this solidly for a month before switching to the Palmolive shave stick. You *can* get a decent lather out of it but even in a soft water area it takes a lot of effort; you have to load the brush quite heavily and then spend plenty of time working the lather and topping it up with extra drops of water. By contrast the Palmolive shave stick delivers a slicker and more protective lather for a lot less effort, and has a better post-shave feel. On the plus side the Wilkie is a very hard soap and should last a long, long time, also the plastic bowl is both cool and practical. Does the job superbly well of making shaving soap available for each wet shave, keeping the soap surface level (because poured in?) in an easily cleanable container. Old ways are best
Bought for my son who will only use a Wilkinson's shaving bowl. He has tried foams, gels and creams and says he cannot get a decent shave with any of those products plus they irritate his skin. Luxury shave-old school.
Have been using these Wilkinson shave soap bowls for years now,and wouldn’t use anything else.Great value and a quality product.Always find it’s best to put the soap bowl in the hot water a minute or two before I start using the brush to work up a lather.The soap get’s nicely softened up,and easier to work with.Much better than a foam/gel from a can arrangement,as this way avoids all the extra chemicals involved with a can of shaving cream,which can only be good for our delicate facial skin!!
