Briggs and Stratton 19063X must have for older engines
Easy and adjustable to use. The 19063X Briggs and Stratton Valve Spring Compressor is very easy to use. Bought to reset my valves on my 1976 Ariens Briggs and Stratton 3hp rototiller. Setting the valves was so easy I had them done in five minutes. Would recommend to anyone working on an older engine to have in their tool box. Measures 9" long, the width as far as the jaws will go is 3 1/4". The widest the valve seat will go with set screw still in place is 7/8ths. The narrowest for the valve seat is 5/8ths. Quality metal and made in the USA.

Received what I ordered, but would have helped to have received some basic helpful instructions. It is not a complicated tool, however it does have two horizontal spacer thumb screws to keep the lifter ends spaced properly. Since these spring out when pressure applied on them from valve spring retainers, it took several tries to figure out correct spacing to begin with to keep retainers from pulling through the claws when forcing above and below retainers to compress valve springs. The right tool for the job!

The compact spring compressor is made of high quality materials, and is constructed with great precision. Not only does it work with Briggs, I used it to replace the springs and valves on a Tecumseh 5 hp, vertical L-Head engine, with the greatest of ease. I am surely glad and proud that I bought this nice tool. I will get some good use out of it.... What takes minutes to hours to get springs compress and held with the keepers, now takes me just seconds to un-install and to reinstall... Briggs Stratton19063 Valve Spring Compressor
Needed this tool for my Cub Cadet 128 with a Kohler 301A 12hp Engine. Doing a rebuild and so gotta remove the valve spring keepers in order to get the valves off. I was surprised when the tool arrived because it actually came in the original Briggs & Stratton box. So use to how manipulative sellers will title and/or picture one thing and then send you another but this was actually the original tool. It's hard to use at first since there is a very narrow opening to get into the valve springs and keepers. Wasn't able to just eyeball how far apart the tool should be set and so had to trial-n- error it several times until I got the right gap and the tool slid onto the valve springs and was still able to compress them without spreading apart and slipping off. Definitely worth the money especially knowing that it's made in our USA and not a piece of disposable junk coming from ch in a. I tried 2 other spring compressor tools that came from there...the first split right at the end of the tool and the second one was so flimsy that I couldn't get it to compress without wanting to keep cocking sideways and thus losing the hold I had on the valve spring.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

This Briggs and Stratton, Valve Spring Compressing Tool makes the jobs, so much easier. No more trying to mess around with long needle nose pliers and a screwdriver or pick.
