These are loud and sound great with two paired in Stereo mode with the JBL phone app!
I think these sound very good when you have two to use with the JBL app on a phone in stereo mode...especially with a limiter/compressor setup like radio stations use on a computer...to encode your tunes to MP3 format to use with these speakers via your phone. Note though, in Party mode you do not get the stereo effect, just only with two of the same speakers. Overall these are well designed and the sound quality is good especially if you soup up the recordings' audio before you put them on your phone. Only JBL Flip 4, JBL Charge 3 or 4, or Xtreme 2 or Boombox 1 (not the new Boombox 2) will connect to each other in Party mode or Stereo mode. The newest generation JBL speakers are not compatible with JBL Connect+ models as the newest ones use PartyBoost. It is incompatible with the previous gen JBL speakers. These are waterproof to boot, but if you use them on the beach or near chlorine, be sure to rinse with tap water to keep the speaker in good shape, otherwise it will wear out the speaker surrounds and boombox seals and gaskets!Verified purchase: YesCondition: Pre-owned

Great product and price
U can tell it’s got some wear and tear but the sound is still there between indoor and outdoor settings as well as bass boost on and off the speaker has a couple different settings but overall the flaws are in the connection with other connect plus speakers. Works amazingly by itself and puts out plenty of sound for a group of 10-15 around a fire tailgate or other outdoor event…. I got this for the connect plus feature because I also own 2 jblcharge4. Big size = big sound =big price
Waited for this to come down in price before finally purchasing. Well worth the wait, and no complaints. Although it sounds great by itself, I pair it with a Charge 4 to obtain well-balanced sound quality across a wide variety of music genres and volume levels. Patio/pool parties, tailgating, camping, and boating. All require me to have a waterproof system, and the Connect+ feature is icing on the cake.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

What I expected
I’ve already owned quite a few of the JBL products including the JBL Xtreme. The JBL Boombox is very powerful. It has a Big low end, and is very bright in the Mids and highs to cut thru the low end both inside and outside. I do like to take my portable radios on Float Trip’s and was glad that JBL made the Boombox fully water immersible, along with a Sound signature that you can hear in the outdoors. In my opinion a great speaker for pop, edm, and hip-hop. If you value bass this is the speaker for you, and will definitely fill a large room and and outdoor event. This speaker gets you going and let’s you jam out. Lastly an item of interest that swayed me in the direction of JBL Boombox speaker was the battery. JBL claims 24 hours although depending on how loud you listen this time may vary. I was able to get around eight hours at 3/4 to full volume.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

VAH VAH BOOMMM!!!

powerful speaker with a few annoying issues
i’ve been waiting for a powerful, portable bluetooth speaker with a long lasting battery to hit the market ever since the beats pill xl was recalled in 2015. the jbl boombox fills those needs with a nice, powerful battery and a solid carry handle. pros: it is loud, even outdoors, with fairly rich lows and bright crisp highs. the battery lasts a long time so i’m not stuck carrying around a dead speaker at the end of the day. the handle is solid and built into the structure of the speaker allowing me to lock the speaker up with a bike lock. when carrying by the handle the speaker faces forward (as opposed to the beats pill xl which faced the ground) it has an aux input which i’ve used numerous times to play from devices other than my phone. the aux cord is also handy for quick handoff to someone else’s phone at a party. the cons: the bass is booming but doesn’t seem to cover all of the low frequencies evenly. it seems to be focused on the kick drum and certain bass notes. occasionally the highs are so bright that they are piercing at higher volumes, closer ranges or indoors. it is heavy, at 11 pounds. but honestly, i don’t care. it is worth the power. i don’t take it on grueling long hikes, and other powerful boomboxes of the past have been at least as bulky. the ends of the speaker seem delicate. a protective grill would have been nice so i could toss this in my backpack or luggage worry free of puncturing them with other objects. the very handy battery level indicator lights turn off at some point until you press a button. why? when you are dj-ing the dance party and you turn the volume all the way up, the high volume cuts out for a second or two to let you know it’s maxed. why??? regarding the aux cord, when you are using it the speaker is NOT waterproof. also, when using it and there are a few seconds of silence between songs, the first second of the next song is cut off, and the sound fades back in when the speaker registers that there IS actually music still playing. this really kills those hard-hitting openers. all in all i think this is one of the best speakers on the market for powerful sound outdoors over extended periods of time. if it weren’t for a couple of musically inconsiderate quirks, jbl boombox would absolutely be killing it.Verified purchase: YesCondition: Pre-owned

The sound quality is great for a Bluetooth speaker system. Lots of base sometimes I think a bit to much. A eq app would be great.
