  • Decking Oil

Brought this online, as two other companies/orders had cancelled on me due to lockdown, i was going to use my normal Ronseal branded deck oil, and would have been paying through the nose @£47 per 5ltrs. Absolutely outrageous!! So looked a bit deeper in the online searches and hey presto, 25ltrs for £65 from Rye Oil. Great product. Great price. Quick delivery. Really impressed. Enhanced the natural softwood boards of my deck, giving a deep wet look satin sheen. I put way too much on at first, which didn't soak in as quickly as I hoped, also previously using Ronseal ultimate deck oil has kind of sealed the wood making it less porous which did not help wiped excess off and was 2/3 days drying time, which was purely my fault(should dry quicker). Note to self. I will not use Ronseal ultimatedeck oil again as it leaves an almost paint like film on the deck which over time cracks and flakes, not as oil should do.

  • Rye Oil hits the mark

Decking needed treatment after a couple of years of neglect, so after giving it a good clean I was looking for some oil to use, and came across Rye Oil. For the price I thought I would try it rather than paying silly money for named brands like Ronseal, and I must say Iam really pleased with how it has brought my decking back to life, I gave it 2 coats and must say what a great finish it has given it. Excellent quality and great value for money, I would highly recommend it.

  • Excellent product

We have a fairly large deck, previous years have used brands such as Ronseal etc. Which is very expensive, this year we gave this ago during the nice weather we have had in April to get the deck all done ready for summer. Jet Washed and then sanded it down followed by two coats of this oil. It has brought the colour of the wood out lovely and the wood looks nurrished. The past two days we have had lots of rain and the water sits nicely on top so it's doing a great job 👍 I was hesitant about moving away from the known brands but will be using this again in the future.

  • Excellent value and great product

Having purchased an untreated Douglas fir gazebo, I wanted to protect the wood and asked the seller to recommend a protective treatment. They suggested this and it is amazingly good value when compared to the big brand names. It goes on very evenly, and is a clear colour. When it dries it gives a wet matt look to the timber. Baring in mind I used 5 litres of a very expensive Douglas fir treatment on the roof, this product would have done it it just as well and I still have most of it left. I'll be using this product in future on my deck as well.

  • Great product and superb value for money!

A great wood preserver and much better than any of the water-based wood paints/preservers on the market today. Obviously great for decking and flooring but can also be used on sheds, fencing, doors, etc. But do be aware that it needs to be applied with greater care than most paints, mainly due to the fact that it is a mineral oil and needs time to soak into the surface. Extra time and patience are very necessary with the results showing the mellow hues of natural woods and the beautiful grains — and imperfections — of the timber surface. It does need a good couple of coats to really soak through the surface but once done on newish timbers it should only need a lighter top coat applying every couple of years or so, dependent on weathering factors. My advice would be to apply this type of preserver in early spring or even autumn time, especially when it is a slightly cooler daytime temperature and less chance of running off vertical timbers and leaving unsightly stain marks on surrounding areas. Overall, it is a remarkable value-for-money product and will treat and preserve all sorts of different timbers for years and years.

  • Great value

Appears to be a great alternative to the regular types of deck oil However it is a completely different product to Screwfix No Nonsense and Ronseal oil. Its thicker in consistancy and goes on great with a paint roller. It takes a bit longer to soak in, but i think thats giving the wood some of its life back. Youve heard of "ready meals" in cooking well, thats what you get with Ronseal type products. This is the stuff to feed your decking with the Rye Oil product. Im no expert but it looks like a great inexpensive alternative. It arrived promptly during covid 19 Time will tell how this product performs. I used 25 ltrs as i have a large area to cover

  • A different, superior and cheaper product to shop-bought decking oil

I bought this as it was the only product I could use in the CoVid crisis to complete the job of oiling my decking. It is an excellent product but it is not the same as you buy in the shops. The stuff I bought previously (B&Q branded) dries onto the deck. This product is a genuine 100% oil which absorbs into the wood and, when the wood is "at capacity" (i.e. it won't take any more oil), the oil just sits on the top of the wood and takes days to absorb/clear. As I say, this isn't a problem at all, - its just that users need to be aware of the difference. I actually prefer this product as its a more genuine solution and does a great bob. The rain sits on top of the oiled wood rather than with the B&Q product which is clearly inferior. Just another minor point, - the lid is on so tight that I had to drill holes in it to get at the oil!! Again, not a problem!

  • Looks like new…..

Brilliant service. The product went on easy. It makes the 2+ year old fence look brand new. Easier to apply with brush. Takes longer but you get a better coverage and all the little gaps. Would defo buy again to finish off my fence lines and because I might have to do neighbours fence.

  • Fantastic product thank you

This 20 ltr has covered 13 fence panels, 3 small tall store sheds, a 6x4 shed, 10x6 shed and a 20x10 log cabin and about 2 litres left Soaks straight in if applied by brush which I did and restores colour of natural timber to new type condition, just a little darker Following day dry and looking good Highly recommend
