    RX100 ten years on

Sony manufactured a design classic here with great features, customisation and ease of use. Only flaw is it is a Sony and a digital imaging device not a camera with the natural handling of the Ricoh GR (series pre and post 2013). Can be improved with add-on accessories such as a front silicone handgrip. All in all a great purchase at bargain prices for a 20mp one inch sensor travelling camera.

    A Little Dissapointing

Bought this camera after weeks of review reading and positive comments from other users. The images I took were good, the auto focus was good, the dynamic range was good, and the low light performance was adequate, but non of these important things IMHO were excellent. Perhaps I am being unfair however, as I can't help comparing all camera's to my PERFECT Olympus OM-D EM1? This Sony is the best compact I have used but I am prepared to carry the Olympus around for the extra performance, even though it is twice the size and weight.

  • Small compact with a host of features

The controls are a bit fiddly to use but persevere and you will be rewarded. Cheap of Sony to only include a brief instruction manual to keep costs down but if you go online to their website you can download the full brilliant manual. Has many features not found on entry level SLR's, and some high end features such as built in ND filter and wireless streaming to your smartphone for instant messaging. Viewing screen can be adjusted for selfies or waist level shooting. Overall I'm pleased with the purchase.

  • Great camera with possible improvements

I’ve been using the RX100 III for a couple of weeks now. All in all, it’s a really good camera. Really portable, great image quality for it’s size and easy to use with a ton of customisation options for the controls. There are a few things I think could be improved though. The digital view finder is great, it pops up and you have to manually extend it a bit by pulling. No problem here, but, I wear glasses and sometimes the frame pushes the extended part resulting in a blurry view. My second gripe is the lack of a second control wheel, on the front. As it is now I find sometimes I’m missing a quick control. Especially if I want to shoot with manual focus.

  • Fantastic semi-pro compact camera

I've previously had the Mk1 version which is very good but the fixed screen was a bit limiting. The zoom range on the Mk1 version had better reach, but slower as you zoom in (worse in low light conditions). The articulated screen which also does selfies is excellent. The zoom isn't as good but much better in low light, makes a big difference. Highly recommended.

  • This RX100 Mark III does virtually anything needed from a holiday and family type camera

Fantastic little camera to own. Have always liked pocket size camera for a city break holiday due to the exponential superior quality it offers over smartphones without compromising with mobility and the chance to take it everywhere travelling. This RX100 Mark III does virtually anything needed from a holiday and family type camera - love it!

  • A good choice if you want near SLR quality combined with pocket sized convenience.

The camera produces clean & resolute images and copes well with different environments and boasts a 1” sensor which gives you more pixels in your image. Controls are easy to use. Limited zoom is the only negative aspect with this camera as some other competing brands offer greater range. Quick to focus and quick memory function meaning it copes with multiple exposures whilst writing data to its memory card. Solid build and has very cleverly designed pop up viewfinder.

  • Great quality images, fantastic camera.

I hate trying to take pictures by squinting at a display panel on the back of a camera. I want to look through a viewfinder. I bought this for the EVF (electronic viewfinder). I'd not used one before and was unsure what to expect. It is superb, very bright and I can easily use it and see the full picture with my glasses on. The dioptre adjustment has a great range, I think +3 to -4 and, even though my eye is -5.5, I can use the EVF without specs. Image quality is exceptional and makes my much older Fujifilm F200EXR compact look very inferior. It's good enough that I'm selling my DSLR. The camera can be used very simply like any other compact with everything on auto and composing in the rear panel, or you can really customise how it works and use it like it's a tiny SLR or old Leica. The assisted manual focus is ideal. You can shoot raw or jpeg or both. The Sony raw format is widely supported so you can use any raw converter out there very successfully. I'm really impressed with this camera, it's not cheap but it is worth every penny.

  • Amazing image quality in a small package even under water (In a Housing)

If you are thinking of underwater photography this is the camera for you. (In a housing of course) The camera has a maximum aperture of 1.8, a 1inch sensor and high ISO if needed. This model has been around for years, in various upgrades, versions 1- 5 will fit the same housing and they can be purchased from about £ 160.00 Image quality is superb when shooting RAW files

  • Tiny size with pro picture quality

I think this range of Sony cameras still provides the best picture quality for its size and the Mk lll is a good value option with the EVF and tilt screen. The Mk lll I bought from e-bay was in as-new condition at a low cost, but I've no pics as it was a present for someone
