Sparks when being connected.
This battery charger works well and is easy to use. I like the voltage display. One downside is that when the crocodile clips are being connected to the battery terminals, and BEFORE the charger is turned on at the mains switch, there is a spark at the battery terminal when the second clip is connected. I have not seen this with any other charger I have used. Furthermore, a spark could be hazardous in the engine compartment.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Good value, easy to use, versatile.
Appears to do the job well. I'm hoping that this will extend the life of our car batteries in cars that don't get a great deal of use. It will not charge a battery quickly, (especially a 6 volt) but for an overnight trickle charge it's fine and it's programmed smart charging should protect an enhanced flooded battey (cars with stop/start) with no risk of overcharging. Doing the job well so far, and at a good price.
This product was bought to keep my Mazda MX5 ND battery charged during long periods of non-use, such as the Covid19 lockdown, and for the winter months when it won't be used. A smart charger was appropriate because of the modern electronic circuitry, plus there is a substantial amount of 'dark current' drain on the battery even when not being started or driven (anti-theft system etc.). The charger has adjustable settings for 6V and 12V batteries, plus car and motorcycle applications. Plug in and forget about it; the charger will apply a 'maintenance charge' when it detects a depleted battery voltage. Trickle charge for piece of mind
Wanted something simple and unobtrusive under the bonnet. Perfect for that then.. Smartly find the correct setting itself and charges. Slow trickle is great. As my car doesn't get used through the week its grown to not getting enough charge whilst driving especially in winter. So it's doing its job well.

Good value intelligent car battery charger
Seems like a good product and within three days of receipt I had charged two car batteries and one van battery. I particularly like large digital voltage display which gives a clear indication of the battery voltage at the start and during charge. With that information you can see where you are in the charge cycle. The charger is multi stage and can recover a battery that's in poor condition as well as charge a battery in good condition. The charger finishes off the charging cycle with a high voltage which is considered good practice and optimised battery charger condition. It's not a large charger and definitely not a fast charger in fact some of my batteries took over 12 hours to be fully charged.
