Superior Display Quality-
You would buy this TV primarily for the superior display quality and internal processing (Android platform) as it has most all of the features as what is available presently from other manufacturers. Some XBR 900F users complain about the slight delay when switching sources or broadcast channels, etc. My money is on high picture quality and integrity- Sony did a very good job here- but it is actually LG that makes the display panel component used in this model.
All TV image quality is depend on the source signal quality ("A chain is only as strong as the weakest link"). Poor input signal? Poor image quality. Once you see a high quality 1080i or 1080P program (as in one of the British dramas) or a well produced 4K production such as what can be easily found on YouTube today you will understand that this is so.
I use an OTA antenna and streaming media ass sources- occasionally Blu-Ray DVD. This TV will upscale most content and sources to maximize the image quality. Of course, viewers often expect different results and there are lots of opinions as to what it's better or not.
If you add and use basic (or better) external speakers- Left, Center and Right via a simple fibre-optic connection your entertainment experience begins to be fully rounded. Go to 5.1 or 7.1 with "easy" room calibration- you won't be disappointed. But remember- your picture and sound are only as good as the content quality. Availability of program/content quality will only get better with time. Enjoy.
