    Music good, voice bumpy

    Punchy, clean sound on music, surprising power and depth for the tiny size, and you get proper A-B amplifers inside, not harsh pulse-driven things. Good value at around 60 quid UK for one - we bought ours for the TV. But on voices my BX5 D2 falls down, as do many others in this price range. You hear a prominent resonance on male voice, and a quacking peak an octave higher on female. Reviewers generally say it is good on vocal, so maybe I am too picky - but I still obtain more realistic speech from a very old Celestion bookshelf.

    Unpacked these monitors and set them on my desk and before plumbing in any DAW or keyboard I just pressed play in iTunes. Pretty sure its source was from my old CD downloaded into iTunes but was amazed at the soundscape these monitors created. I was listening to Focus III (ask your dad....Grand-dad) in 3D. Left right and forward and back separation. Fed with a Steinberg UR22 the appear to be honest in production.
