Great Bass for R&R
As it turned out this bass was not 2007/2008, but 2011 (based on serial number), which made it a Deluxe. The Deluxe has vintage 60's pickups and sound authentic. The newer American Standard version of the Jaguar bass has a PJ configuration, which makes no sense to me for the series/parallel capability (series mode gives you the Precision sound). Overall the Jaguar bass sounds great and has active electronics (can run active or passive) when you need to kick it into overdrive.
Two problems I found: 1) the bass is not balanced weight, and tends to dip (neck heavy). Annoying.
2) Buzz when in active mode. This is fixable. You will need to get copper shielding tape and shield all the cavities then connect the shielding between them. (Look online for DIY videos on this).
Additional comment: rather than just one volume & tone (V-T) control for both pickups, It would be nice if the Jaguar bass had individual volume like it's cousin the Jazz bass (V-V-T, or concentric VT-VT). That would greatly expand it's potential. I may rewire it. Are you listening Fender?
For the price, the MIJ Fender Jaguar Bass is a great value, and it does look cool.
