    Great Bass for R&R

As it turned out this bass was not 2007/2008, but 2011 (based on serial number), which made it a Deluxe. The Deluxe has vintage 60's pickups and sound authentic. The newer American Standard version of the Jaguar bass has a PJ configuration, which makes no sense to me for the series/parallel capability (series mode gives you the Precision sound). Overall the Jaguar bass sounds great and has active electronics (can run active or passive) when you need to kick it into overdrive. Two problems I found: 1) the bass is not balanced weight, and tends to dip (neck heavy). Annoying. 2) Buzz when in active mode. This is fixable. You will need to get copper shielding tape and shield all the cavities then connect the shielding between them. (Look online for DIY videos on this). Additional comment: rather than just one volume & tone (V-T) control for both pickups, It would be nice if the Jaguar bass had individual volume like it's cousin the Jazz bass (V-V-T, or concentric VT-VT). That would greatly expand it's potential. I may rewire it. Are you listening Fender? For the price, the MIJ Fender Jaguar Bass is a great value, and it does look cool.

Not happy with this particular bass!

This bass is a really nice concept: - A nice variety of useful tones ready to be dialed in - A slim and playable neck - Stylish and inspiring looks - The Hot Rod Red finish really stands out, ...though it might be a bit "to much" ...however, my purchased item had a couple of really serious issues: - The neck was twisted like a propeller! An inspection from the head and down towards the body shows a quite considerable twist in the neck. You actually feel that you have to give your fingers and extra stretch as you grip gets closer to the nut on the bass side. This can be difficult to fix! - The frets had razor sharp and uncomfortable edges - The truss rod does not provide the necessary adjustment to straighten the neck as it is already loosened all the way and should really have given some more relief. Hopefully the string gauge I've installed will change this over time - The active electronic circuit is producing random noice Needless to say, this bass is handed over to a qualified repairman who hopefully will be able to sort some of the issues.

  • Fender Reverse Jaguar Bass

I am a fender bass collector and I like unusual bass guitar and the fender reverse Jaguar is just that! This and a good tone plays well ,But there is one flaw in it's design! Bass who buy this bass will find out quickly there is no access to the higher octave notes because of the body design! Other wise if you don't mind not playing those high notes, The bass itself looks very cool and plays very well. Limited playing ability!

  • For the price it is great..

All I have done to it was change out the Jazz pick for a noiseless one so I put out 75.00 for it extra..Plays great stays in tune no buzz. I had it set up by a Pro.....So I have under 350.00 in total...I play it more then my 97 Jazz American Deluxe..At lease for the Rock n Roll songs..

  • Big Tone Range

I always liked the Original Fender Jazzmaster and Jaguar style and tone versatility on guitar. This model of Jaguar Bass has all that. The passive tone range is great and the active even more powerful. Why not look good but sound even better? Play the Fender Jaguar Bass and it will put you there. This is the particular model with the Original Tone Controls PLUS the Active Circuit. The newer model Jaguars lack this versatility.
