IF YOU WANT TO BLOCK UNWANTED CALLS THIS IS THE PHONE TO BUY!
Before I got this phone I was getting 8 to 9 unwanted or hidden phone call per day! Got this one for £40 refurbished (why buy new?) and saved myself £20 on the retail value. This phone is the nuts! You can set up a call screening service that allows you to find out who is calling before you answer. Also automated calls are blocked immediately! Supplier great - BT 8610 phone poor-ish
Firstly, hats off to the supplier greenboxshop - excellent, well presented refurbished goods at great value. Unfortunately the BT 8610 has too many issues to recommend it. In no particular order - Poorly written instruction book which actually is just plain wrong on the operation of the call guardian feature. complicated menu structure. Harsh sounding ringtones which could easily be based on 1990's MIDI files Phone is not intuitive, two examples are - phone carries on ringing when you pick it up - even my 10 year old BT Freelance is cleverer than that. - Needs two presses of the "on" button to make a speakerphone call..Why?? Removing the battery cover is fiddly and is not explained in the book. In 2017 premium range phones ought to be better than this.Verified purchase: YesCondition: Pre-owned

Call blocking bt 8610. All good so far.
Overall it is a great phone, it blocks the random nuisance calls and "withhelds". Has stopped all the nonsense and get no calls at all in the last month of this type and it is so satisfying to press the "block" button. Whoopee! The only drawback is that the phone is a bit tall to sit in the cradle bit and can be a big wobbly so perhaps a bit of a re design is needed there. And the delete messages is at the bottom of the options on screen, would have preferred it to be at the top to save scrolling down. Disappointing.
The keys are hard to use, especially right hand bottom corner. Instructions not easy to follow. As with most products I had to download the instruction manual as not enough instructions with the telephones. I had to ring the help line for clearer instructions. Having entered all known contacts, when the caller rings it doesn*t always come up with the name. I had no problems like this with my old BT phone. Awful , item been received and not helpful at all
I ordered these items for my mother who needs them for upstairs it's now 14 days later and stil no delivered , if you contact them not helpful at all , I wish I had the patience to write all that has happened , honestly this is the first bad review I have ever written in my life , stay away for them . Life saver!!
My 87 year old disabled mother was plagued by nuisance calls (20+ a day) and has had several falls just trying to get to the phone. Once these phones are set up it's blissfully quiet. So much so that my mum now thinks her hearing aids aren't working properly!!
