Frolov
Comes without instructions in English, so quite a bit of searching to acquire the instructions online. The best way to learn how to use the product is to buy the book, How to Use the Frolov Breathing Device, by Dr Artour Rakhimov. The Kindle e-book costs about $US6.00.
I have been using the Frolov for about ten days and think my breathing has improved. I could barely manage a couple of minutes initially, but now can stretch to 30 minutes. It is a stretch though, for me. I don't take physiological measurements, but am definitely walking more easily when confining myself to nose breathing. I have COPD/emphysema and wish to avoid deteriorating to the extent that I'm dragging an oxygen tank behind me.
This particular product was the cheapest I could find of its genre, that will post to Australia. I searched both Frolov and Breathslim far and wide and the Frolov from this vender was the best price.
Be aware though, that if you are not a Russian speaker, there are a couple of extra items you will need to purchase. They are:
1. Rakhimov's book. (You will find free instructions online, if you don't wish to buy the book, though none as comprehensive as Rakhimov).
2. Nasal Clips. Commonly used by swimmers. I purchased mine in a sports store.
Brand: Speedo $AUD11.99. You can buy much cheaper ones on eBay, but they all seemed to go inside the nostrils, which didn't appeal.
To conclude: I think the Frolov is well worth trying. The overall cost, including postage was $AUD35. It is not much of a gamble if it results in improved breathing and a reduction or even freedom from bronchodilators and worse, oxygen tanks.
Many write reviews saying it is too much to pay for plastic stuff. It is true the product is plastic. So what? Makes it easier to keep clean. Some write and say you could make it yourself. It would be a helluva task to copy the design. Others claim that you make the straw component with an old snorkel. The idea of people with chronic lung problems having garages full of old snorkels is fascinating. Riveting, in fact.
I think it is a good product and very effective. It was a very long wait, I might say, for the product to arrive from St Petersberg, Russia, to Canberra, Australia, though. Worth the wait.
