Good value for money and ideal for hdd and ssd data transfer via usb.
It did exactly what it was designed to do, perfectly. I copied [cloned] a smaller ssd onto a new larger ssd and replaced it in my laptop. This did not require the use of the second usb cable. I also used it to copy data from a sata III hdd to the newly installed ssd; this did require the second usb cable to supply the extra power needed to drive the mechanism in the hdd. Poor quality, likely to not work as advertised
I ordered 2 of these and both were DOA. They pass power through to the SATA drive but do nothing else. They don't enumerate as USB devices. There is some electronics within the plastic shell but in my case it appears to be non-functional. Your mileage may vary. Fit and finish is not great. The shell is glued shut but has a noticeable bulge in the middle presumably where some components are sited inside.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Excellent for upgrading laptop HDD
Excellent product. Makes upgrading a laptop hard drive to SSD very easy. I used it with a Samsung SSD and Samsung Migration Software to clone the original laptop HDD. I simply connected the SSD to the adapter cable, plugged the USB connector into the laptop and ran the Samsung Migration Software to clone the HDD. This, for me, took a couple of hours. The time taken will obviously depend on the amount of data involved. The laptop will shut down when the clone has completed. Then it is simply a case of swapping the SSD for the HDD and booting up. The difference in boot-up speed is amazing! I didn't need to use the secondary power connector.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

I'm quite surprised with how well this cable works. I bought two from different vendors and they are just terrible. They sometimes stop my computer from running.
