We believe this is the best SDR HF upconverter available. Here is why. PTC fuse on USB power input to protect your Ham It Up upconverter from short circuits. Antenna protection on RF input--in-circuit in both enable and passthrough mode--to protect your Ham It Up & SDR from stray ESD.

  • Hampered by some poor marketing decisions, but a good product overall.

The latest version includes the noise source feature pre-assembled apart from the output connector and a power enable link. This makes it much more useful, 'straight out of the box', but for the price charged, I'd have expected the missing parts to be included. I haven't tried it as a receiver for the amateur HF bands yet, because it needs at least another 10dB of gain to work straight from a 'standard' antenna. I'm now designing a suitable pre-amp to make, because there isn't anything available at a sensible price. It's also a nuisance having to use a second USB port to power this unit, when I expected it to be fed through the output connector, from the USB module, like a powered antenna. The user documentation doesn't include a schematic diagram either, so I will need to 'reverse engineer' the design to add a power supply 'tee'. Despite these criticisms, I think the unit is well designed and will be a valuable addition to my shack. Graham ( M0GRP ).

  • The best HF upconverter out there

This builds on the already good version 2 Ham It Up, with useful extras such as the LEDs and fully populated noise source (just add connector and a jumper). Mine is working very well with an active loop and a Nooelec NESDR. Sure, there is no preamp so you have a conversion loss around 10 dB, but in HF it's external noise rather than receiver noise figure which dominates. Hence this is a good solution which will hold its own against a dedicated HF receiver, plus you can transmit QRP through it. Nice well thought out gadget, and the oscillator is nice and stable.

  • Excellent product with many good features at an affordable price.

Hello somewhere on the web I read about the USB-format on the HF band (1 to 30 MHZ) digital radio (DRM) Thus, using UPCONVERT 125 MHZ V1.3 and RTL SDR RADIO (RTL 2832U) DRM RECEIVING MADE FROM MANY COUNTRIES.

  • Excellent Short Wave Addition to SDR!

Had a small issue of a solder blob across the switch causing non function but was easily removed and now works a great, highly recommended. I also suggest you purchase the matching enclosure.

  • Great quality Upconverter

This is a great quality Upconverter in combination with NESDR SMART - Premium RTL-SDR. I recommend purchasing NESDR SMART - Premium RTL-SDR and housing for the converter. Especially for radio amateurs. Chinese RTL SDR DVB-T dongle do not have the quality and frequency stability as products from this company. Besides sending it fast and safely. Excellent packed and all high quality.

  • Frequency coverage modified and now working great!

This converter was modified by myself to increase the range to 100khz - 75 MHz by replacing the components in the eliptical input filter so I can use it to upconvert 71MHz digital amateur TV signals. It now works flawlessly. I have written an article on this for CQ-TV and it will be in the next edition.

  • Usiful for use in sdr receivers

There are no locking nuts on the front and back panel for mounting the toggle switch and high- frequency slots.
