Great for podcast capture.
I am using it to prepare podcasts - I need portable as I record somewhere special - a room with suitable acoustic environment, but also need to capture relevant outdoor noises for the podcasts. It works well with all my dynamic and condenser mics that range from brand new to 40 years old. It has a great selection of features in such a small package, and the sound quality is excellent with very low noise. I have not had it long, and have not used all the features. My main problems have been with the USB port. It cannot power and send data at the same time, and you must power-down to switch between these functions. Superb replacement for my 6 year old zoom H4n
Used H4n for years after dropping it I needed a replacement. The Tascam has excellent sound quality. The slate makes lip sync spot on every time.
