Great little side snare
This snare works well as an auxillary or a main snare in a percussion set-up. Unlike other small timbales with snare wires, you can throw off the snares, which creates an open timbale sound. I set mine up with a Pearl ISS rim mount next to a 13" soprano brass timbale. With snares on it has a tight tone and sounds more like a tambourine (with skin) but is more rugged. The jingles don't seem to add a lot with snares engaged and when played with sticks but they don't detract from the sound, either. Small drum but fun to play
Nice drum but it will not be to everyone’s taste. Not sure it would do well as a main snare but as a side snare it is nice, rolls sound really good. I would probably not try a low tuning with such a small drum. Fairly high pitch but it’s a 10 inch snare, so no surprise there. Throw off is very high as is is attached to the top rim. Will have to deal with that if you carry it. Really nice for accents, little bursts of single stroke rolls. Press rolls are crisp and clean sounding.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New
