Great little side snare
This snare works well as an auxillary or a main snare in a percussion set-up. Unlike other small timbales with snare wires, you can throw off the snares, which creates an open timbale sound. I set mine up with a Pearl ISS rim mount next to a 13" soprano brass timbale. With snares on it has a tight tone and sounds more like a tambourine (with skin) but is more rugged. The jingles don't seem to add a lot with snares engaged and when played with sticks but they don't detract from the sound, either. Overall, it is well-constructed-- as you would expect from Sonor.
