At last - paint that brings life to Antiques !
My Godmother left me a very beautiful Victorian Bird Feeder. Totally rusted, it took an age to clean it . One coat brought it back to life - the second coat produced a Brand New Look ! Hammerite:
A tremendous paint that doesn't need a primer. Sticks well. Easy to apply and quickly dries to a smooth finish. If the application needs to be thick enough to cover in one coat whilst being thin enough not to form runs. One downside might be said to be the speed at which it dries. Application needs earlier to be reasonably quick so that the paint flows into what was applied a few minutes ago. Used this to finish off a bench vice I've renovated
After I found my dad's 80 year old bench vice at the back of the garage after being stood unused for 20 years, I decided to strip it down, clean it up, repair it then repaint it. The only problem I had was what coating to finish it in. I was toying with the idea of powder coating but that was unfortunately not possible in these unprecedented times. My other option was using hammerite, ive used this stuff loads of time in the past with good results. I researched prices online with varying results and found ebay to be competitively priced. When the red hammerite paint arrived I couldn't wait to apply the 1st coat. After leaving it to dry for 2 days I applied another one, then another 2 days drying then as a belt and braces approach I painted a final coat on top. The result was a high gloss, hard wearing finish which was compairable to powder coating finish. After a couple of weeks of heavy use with the vice it's really stood up to everything I've thrown at it. Well impressed with the hammerite and I'll definitely be using it for my next renovation project.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New
