  • Solidly Sexy Little Camera. Big Power.

So, this is my second Olympus M43 camera, and I must say I am a fan of these cameras. My first Olympus was a E-PL5, and while that was a good camera that upped my street/everyday shooting capabilities substantially, this is a vastly superior camera. I also shoot a Canon DSLR setup (7D, 5D Mk..., etc.), and while I will continue to use my Canon rig for most pro gigs, the Olympus line immediately found a place in collection. The images off the Oly are not quite as silky as their larger sensored competitors, nor is the interface as intuitive as a Canon, or Panasonic camera, the Olympus definitely holds its own thanks to other categories. Price, size, and weight all come into play when evaluating a camera, and if you are in the market for a camera you can carry all day, just about anywhere, and won't be out a huge financial investment should something happen to it, this (or just about any current Olympus) is an excellent choice. The image quality is excellent, though depending on the age of the software you are using, you might have some issues dealing with the .orf files (I had to update my version of Lightroom, a minor nuisance). Olympus cameras seem as if they were designed by engineers rather than UX designers, increasing the operational learning curve, particularly for less tech savvy creative types. That said, engineers know people might want to customize their own interface, and accordingly, this camera is very open to custom operational configuration. Almost any button or knob can be assigned to control almost any camera function; this is great. The camera also has a ridiculously long list of interesting, and novel features, and I have not yet had time to experiment with all of them, but I am looking forward to doing so. This camera is just about the perfect starter camera for someone taking the dive into digital photography. The price is relatively modest, but the quality, feature set, and available line of lenses make it a camera that has plenty of room for a photographer to grow into. This is the no warranty version, which at the time of purchase was ~$80 cheaper than retail. I buy 3rd party aftermarket warranties for all my gear anyways ($50 to cover this model) so the lack of a domestic warranty is almost irrelevant to me. I recommend this camera often when people come to me asking for recommendations, and I will continue to do so until a sufficiently updated model* drops in a similar price range. Great gear. * - in my opinion, the OMD E-M10 MkII does not have enough new features to warrant spending the extra $.

  • Another Superb Camera from Olympus

This camera is compact and quite light -- very nice to handle. It has a lot of features and so an extensive menu system, but easy enough to work through and set or forget the features I don't want to use. I was especially interested in its fine sensor for astronomy, and so far that seems to live up to what I've seen in a friend's camera of the same model.

  • Compact and highly customizable

I am still learning how to use all the features of this highly customizable camera, but that's part of the fun. IMHO, the OM-D E-M10 (mk I) has the vast majority of the important features of the newer models (mk II and mk III) at a fraction of the cost (refurbished by mfg.) The camera is quite compact and has a great feel with typical micro four-thirds lenses. I also purchased the ECG-1 add-on grip which improves the handling when used with larger or legacy adapted lenses.

  • Extra Camera Body

I have committed to the micro four thirds system for my amateur photography needs. My main body is the Olympus Pen F, and I use a selection of Olympus and Panasonic lenses. This OM-D body was purchased as a back-up/ spare for a trip to Alaska where I would be in a very remote area. Also, weigh was a major concern, as during this trip I needed to travel very light; the m4/3 system is exceedingly light and compact. I’m very satisfied with all aspects of this model.

  • The Olympus OMD E M10 - Nice Camera

Despite using Nikon DSLRs for a long time I have to admit that I love using the Olympus series, I also have the OMD E M5. These cameras perform flawlessly, and the best part, they are small and lightweight. With this camera, the EM 10, I bought the Olympus hand grip for this model. I have large hands so the optional hand grip made the form just perfect for my use. To keep the whole package small I use a Panasonic 12-32 slim kit lens which I understand are a bit sharper than the Olympus equivalent. However, FYI, the Panasonic kit lens tend to add a bit of blue/purple fringing on the Olympus body so I use a UV warming filter like a 1B or similar and this makes for a perfect combination.

  • One of the best for street photography

This camera is great for street photography! It’ compact size makes easy to carry around all day. It has a led 2 position screen and electronic view finder. Picture quality is surprisingly good and interchangeable lens capabilities.

  • Small but decent at a great price point.

This is a good light-weight, and very compact camera. Coming from a background of decades of using larger, 35mm film cameras, this is almost uncomfortably small. The kit lens is surprisingly light-weight and very compact. I bought the Olympus rather than a similar Panasonic model because is has in-camera image stabilization, which would be very helpful for using my old Minolta lenses with it, but I discovered that when using longer lenses, the in-body stabilization struggles. It helps, but it is not nearly as good as using a dedicated Olympus equivalent lens. It works great with my 50mm 1.7 Minolta lens, though. That becomes a 100mm equivalent lens, and great for portraits (although it is slower when mounted on a 4/3 camera). Overall, this is a decent camera if you're comfortable with the smallish size.

  • OMD EM 10

I have the EM5, I really like it for all around photos. The EM10 is better because it has a flash, and the sensor seems to show less noise at fairly high ISO's (1600). I also like the fact it has Phocus peak, that way I can use manual lenses.

  • Great Camera

Very well constructed and easy to use. I use mine with an adapter for my older Olympus lenses which work well on the camera.
