Sound quality good for an inexpensive mic.
I bought the MXL 990 as a secondary mic to my Röde, which is an excellent mic. Although not as apparently robust as the Röde, its certainly a good inexpensive mic. A little smaller than I imagined, but the sound quality is good - which is all I could ask for.

Great Mic
For the money you can't go wrong. It sounds very open, albeit a bit bright at the top end (but this can be tamed with a bit of EQ. Very pleased with it and would recommend it to anyone. Compared it to my Rode NT2 and it held it's own.
