Creativity Needed
Although most window/door layouts allow easy installation of these sensors, sometimes you have to be a little creative in making them work. For my windows, I had to make a small metal bracket so that the sensor would clear the screen. It works and is a reliable part of the Ring Alarm System. Smaller size but much easier to fit
This model is much smaller than 1st Gen model and is great for tight spaces. It also uses button batteries which are easier to get and cheaper than the lithium batteries used in 1st Gen. Set up is a breeze.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Open box = used
We have many Ring sensors - these were the first 2nd Gen type. They we purchased used (open box). Someone had tried to install them and as a result had taken off the coverings for the sticky sides, which were unusable. Fortunately I was able to use them in a place where screws worked well. Contacts work exactly as they are supposed to.
They work great! Installed sensors and linked to the ring alarm. Now before I go to bed, instead of having to go around the house to check that all the doors are closed and locked, I can just look at the Ring app. Occasionally I drive away and then think I forgot to close the door (only actually happened once), with this I can check in the app that the door is closed.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Replace gen 1 sensor
I had a Gen 1 Ring contact sensor that always said battery was low but it was new. The other always said tampered unit. I easily replaced both with Gen 2 contact sensors and used the previous Gen 1 magnets 🧲. Works great 👍!Verified purchase: YesCondition: Pre-owned

Works flawlessly
I've been extremely impressed by the second generation Ring Alarm system. These new contacts for windows and doors are very simple to install and just plain work. I've had mine installed for about a month and have had zero issues. If I open the door/window, the base station immediately knows it is open (you can turn the chime on or off from the app).
