It ships in peculiar packaging, you know, the sort that you can't put it back into - but why would you? This cracking little mic delivers a broadcast quality performance at a fraction of the cost of its older competitors. We field tested this inside furnished rooms and found that setting its gain to 5.0 gave the best side noise rejection even at a subject distance of 1.5M - though a word of advice - DON'T turn up the gain on your camera too much because this mic delivers a very punchy signal! Outside of course it really delivers and the excellent side rejection means targeting speakers in a crowd is an absolute peach, yet it does so with a nice smooth roll off between adjacent subjects. The battery life is as advertised so no worries there and the best feature by far is the selective - 20db pad which everyone will need with newer DSLR cameras that are equipped with sensitive pre-amps but best of all, in noisy places or with unpredictable talent, is the safety channel recording feature that gives one channel as -20db gain compared to the lead channel. You'd be very hard pushed to beat the the auto on/off feature ( power is linked to your cameras operation) so no more unexpected flat batteries! and as if that was not enough for you the last feature we loved is an absolute godsend to budget conscious filmmakers - you don't need to buy a separate voice over mic, this babe doubles up one! Finally, don't expect it to go out of date anytime soon, when you plug it in to your PC it can be updated to the latest firmware!
