    Great little box

Really easy to set up and use. Got it really to be able to record and pause whilst making tea or a cuppa and to fast forward all those pesky adverts as already have a smart tv with all the other programs but now everything is all in one small box. No problems with pictures. Only downside is as others reported that you have no idea if it's recording as the light on front just stays it's normal blue colour. Well worth the price!

Works well, with a few wrinkles

I previously owned the non-recording version of this. I was pleased with the performance and usability but had to return it because it suddenly stopped seeing my wi-fi network. OK, early-life failures happen - I am willing to give Manhattan the benefit of the doubt on this. I bought the T3-R to replace it because I couldn't obtain the cheaper version quickly. I don't save programmes but find the ability to pause live transmissions useful. The casing is the same shape as the T3 but slightly larger, which may affect placement options, and the supplied mains lead could usefully be longer. Two other minor gripes: I had no trouble getting the remote of my T3 to control my TV but can't repeat the trick with this, and have yet to find a way of making the T3-R 'wake up' the TV when I switch in on. First world problems? In general, though, for what it does I have no complaints. Output quality is good and the remote works well, with large buttons. Let's hope this one keeps working.

  • Who needs sky+

Had this box up and running for a day now and can honestly say I wish I had changed sooner. Does everything my sky+ box does but doesn't cost me money every month. Catch-up is seamless and series link works just like I'm the sky box. Also had the YouTube app built in which is handy but not a game changer. What would be great would be the ability to have Netflix, Prime Video and Disney+ on the box also then it would be full package for media playback also. Future update maybe.

  • One of the best TV recorder boxes.

Good quality product which was very easy to set up. Gives excellent picture quality and a very fast EPG. Can record 2 programs while watching a third is not really a problem. Access to all the catchup programs is very easy and you can add them to your watch list.

  • Excellent bit Kit

Replaced a 5 year old Samsung 32" tv with the latest model. Devastated, No timeslip on new Samsung so no pause and rewind, or record either as older model had (Shame on you Samsung, not expected to have newer model with less features than older models) The Manhattan fulfills all these functions and more, series link recording is a bonus, picture quality better than Samsung (Me Neither!) Small footprint main unit, chunky remote for big fingers and cloudy eyesight. Easy to program remote to replace Samsung remote Would have given it 5 Stars if volume button increased/decreased on a sliding scale as opposed to chunks, being either to loud or to quiet, can be fine tuned using original Samsung remote, but need to have both remotes at hand as one likes it louder and the other one likes it quieter! Excellent product, and was a refurbished model, a few cosmetic scratches but supplied with new remote, leads etc, albeit with instructions for a Humax recorder, no problem though as downloaded Manhattan T3-R instructions from the web. As good as my old Virgin Tivo box and a lot cheaper to run Only lacks Prime/Netflix but my Samsung can access this, so no issue.

  • Better than the competition

I had the Humax and was very disappointed with it, only had it for a year or two and it got damaged by lightning so I tried the Manhattan. I like it a lot more than the Humax but the only down side is it only has two tuners. With the humax you could watch one side and record two others at the same time. I think more manufacturers should build in more tuners. It is certainly better value than Sky or similar, Who needs all those programmes? Freeview has enough programmes for me anyway!!

  • Take control and save some money

Replaced my Virgin TIVO box and so it is saving me £20+ a month. Have about 160 Freeview channels, though some of these are +1 or shopping channels etc, but there are enough to meet most needs. Also it is much easier to use to catch up on TV programmes which you may have missed or just missed the start. Reception is via a TV aerial or satellite receiver whilst the apps (e.g. BBC iPlayer) are viewed via the broadband connection. Easy to use and I am pleased I made the change.

  • Good looking box, very quiet, lots of catch up services. Very responsive.

Very responsiveLacks some features. I understand that a major update of the software is due before the end of the year. Hopefully it will address the lack of a search function on the epg and the fact that if the box is recording 2 programs you cant watch a channel on the same mux. Smart looking box. Very quiet. Lots of satch up services.

  • A great UK product

I had an old (not smart) TV so rather than get a smart one - I got this box to attach to it - better than most new TVs it also has a full record function - it has nearly all the catch up services (missing netflix as they don't have a licence to include it yet ) love the fact it has BBC Sounds included.. Great guide easy to read menus - super fast to all control functions including internet services. Tiny flaw is that the transparency of the picture behind the guide text can be "off" or "Dark" or "light" basically you cannot follow the action on any option - a thumbnail picture in the guide page would be better. Is worth attaching to old or even some smart TVs lacking many of the catchup services.

  • TV Recorder with freeview, easy to use and responsive menus.

Lets be honest, a PVR unit 5 years ago was about £100.00 with a hard drive, so value is kinda not there, but it is cheaper than most others and the quality is good. The menus are easy to navigate and the unit boots up fast, is responsive and does what you need it to. It would be great if you could add NOW TV, NETFLIX and PRIME to the system also to save me having multiple boxes under my TV, possibly make another unit for £200.00 with all the apps that has a DVD player built in also and I would buy one in a heart beat. Overall, if you want a TV recorder that has freeview, them it is good.
