Poor performance for the money!!
Bought this in December 2021 and it is acting up. Picture quality is okay and menus easy to operate. Set up was easy too. Box response is very slow. However you can't use the live TV app to allow viewing on a smart device and setting up recordings as it doesn't exist on Google play store this is the reason for only giving 4 stars. Some help on getting access the app would be good as the Humax Aura app does not function for this box!! Wouldn't the product as there are shortcomings with it such as Audi descriptor takes wobblies and you get a voice . Also subtitles come up on screen without touching any buttons. There is no information button on the controller to see what programmes are about. HDMI cable that came with the box has poor connections and overheats prompting weird messages in yellow text on the tv screen. Will now buy brand new from Argos or Currys!!

Average, very slow
It is incredibly slow to turn on and takes a lifetime to load up YouTube and generally slow in all modes. Netflix seems like a life time sometimes to load up. Having said that it's a fairly cheap one off payment to have the ability to record stuff and have Netflix on your TV.

Humax FVP-5000T... This device has changed my Covid lockdown life ..
During the Covid Lockdown I was finding my TV viewing habits getting a little out of control.. After analysing this change in viewing habits, I discovered that I was regularly watching the same programmes or series, So I got one of these. The FVP-5000T has the ability to record 4 Tv programmes at once. so now I click through the 8 day schedule, recording everything I'd watch & a few more. It's a simple fix! Now I watch stuff when I need a rest from my (creative) activities. With a X32 fast forward, I never have to watch a "just eat" again.. When I stop watching a recording, the device stores my position so, I have the option of continuing later. I'm not a couch potato anymore! I'm in total control.. I've had these facilities before, even my smart TV can do it.. but not anywhere near as slick & easy as this machine.. with other devices without quad recorders, you're constantly faced with that overlapping programs delema.. I also have the Humax FVP-2000T on the network, but this is a totally different interface, it's quite clunky in comparison. Free up your time! Take near unlimited control of your telly! Don't mess about .. get the right tool for the job!

Good and Bad
Being able to record four programmes simultaneously is a great improvement over my previous recorder which could only record two. The remote control has a very nice feel to it with a positive “click” when pressing the buttons, again a great improvement over my previous one where button pressing was a bit “hit and miss” especially when the machine was busy. It is unfortunate that the machine does not have front panel lights to show when it is actively on and when in stand-by as it appears to have three levels (asleep, transitioning and on) of activity and it is difficult to tell what state it is in at any time.

Four channel recording and great sound and picture quality, what more do you need!
I read previous reviews that had stated that the operation was slow but I have found that the speed is very acceptable, with maybe a slight response lag on start-up and with four channel recording it's fantastic! It's easy to use and the sound and picture quality are great. All-in-all I am very happy with my purchase.

Excellent product, far better than the one it supercedes. Only critiicisum is the Menu display choice is white on black or transparent - white on black is not easy for me to read, more background options are needed for clarity

A good device that does what it should once you get to know its hard control.
This Freeview recorder works well. Its hand control is different from previous Humax recorders but all the functionality is there but using different buttons in some cases. It does record four programs simultaneously with only three tuners. This works because Humax recorders can record two programs that are on the same multiplexer and then one on each of the other tuners. To ensure this always works, this box only allows three multiplexers to be saved. The trade off is that you do not get all the available channels but I seem to have all the important ones and I have not missed any that I have watched in the past. All the good media functions of the excellent HDR FOX-T2 are here plus watching live TV on ones phone, tablet, PC etc on my local LAN. Other local media devices can also play recorded programmes No problems found when using this device.

great, good looking TV recorder.
Really like this HUMAX Freeview Tv recorder, looks good, easier to operate and much better than my previous 2 program only recorder. No more having to decide which TV program to stop recording, easy to delete programs after watching rather than having to go back into recording list to delete. Program and recording lists menus easy to read on the screen unlike some, can NOT fault this machine.

Easy set up, easy to use.
Used a Humax recorder for years, which still works really well but decided to upgrade to obtain Free View Play. Easy to set up, easy to use. Highly recommended. Only thing I would say is that I preferred the old unit as it has the time display and channel.
