Amazing.
Amazing really is the word to describe it. After attaching the PS/2 cable to a converter (which you can get off of ebay or amazon), I got my 1988 unit working on my modern laptop. It's hands down the best typing experience I've ever had on a keyboard. Not only does it have the iconic sound, but the actual FEEL of it is incredible. The buttery smooth action of the buckling springs as you press down the keys make you feel more connected to the keyboard and whatever it is you're typing. The keys are shaped in just the perfect way so you don't fat-finger across them and mistype a word. These things are built like tanks too. The unit itself is heavy and made of thick plastic and metal, making it incredibly durable.
Thank God Unicomp bought all the licenses to the buckling spring technology. They picked up where IBM/LEXMARK left off, so Model M keyboards are still being produced to this day. I'd hate to loose the ability to buy new buckling spring keyboards, because I don't think I could go back to any other type of keyboard, even other mechanical ones.
But as for my original IBM unit, I will use it until the day it dies and stays dead, or when converters stop being made for it and it's forever incompatible.
