Reality At Its Best
Friend of mine has one of these Samsung Gear VR headsets and he brought it into work so the lads could try it out....first minute I was using it I was "Hooked" some of the VR scenes ain't all that brilliant especially on the roller coaster but that don't detare you as your too busy enjoying the ride yet I've tried a few other games on this VR system and the scenes are brilliant so yes I would highly recommended one of these systems. The quality is truly brilliant and before I bought this one my friend at work did say be careful of cheap ones as they don't work that well so trying before you buy is a good option providing you know someone who has one. I definitely would recommended this Samsung Gear VR since I tried it I loved it and very happy with it... What I also found is you can view photos or videos you have done so its got some great advantageous to it not just for the VR so yes its a nice piece of kit....but if your planning on buying one.....Don't jump in cause its cheap do some research as if you buy a cheap one cause it's at a great price you maybe disappointed.... I was lucky since my friend at work had one and I had the chance to try one out... Lightweight headset at a modest price to try VR
Had tried Google Cardboard before and this is better by far, almost at the level of say the Oculus Rift for screen quality. (Haven't tried Daydream so can't comment on that). Definitely worth trying out at least, really cool to be able to be seeing the future of technology. Phone battery runs down pretty quick if you're not charging it, and on my phone (Samsung Galaxy S6) the phone often overheats if you're trying to charge it and do intensive stuff on it - with a friend's S7 didn't have this problem at all. A new world!
Bought these at £35 from Currys ebay, used but no sign of wear and tear anywhere, not even on the packaging. As to the product, if you've never really experienced VR before, it's a very compelling experience, by no means perfect but points to the potential of the medium for the future, when resolutions increase and become more visually absorbing. The Samsung Gear VR, with its own software platform allows you full control of navigation through the headset and as such is superior to the cheaper manual headsets that I have also tried.
