Works as designed.
The product works as designed and the design is what Cuisinart came up with. I have a DLC-8 and a DLC-10 and both have the same curved stem and locking style. I have never had one break with moderate use; and I say it is easy to clean only because it doesn't get that dirty and "stuff" doesn't get in the open end that mounts on the motor shaft. As for the design, I have to defer to Cuisinart on that one, but it does what it is supposed to do.

Cuisinart blade stem!
It is easy to install on blades and easy to insert in the processor and remove. If you have trouble look it up on YOU TUBE.
