Works Great! Sounds Great!
I use these for watching movies so that others don't have to endure loud volume because my ears don't work. I tried regular headphones in the headphone output of the receiver and I heard the talking much better than over the loudspeakers. However, I had very little sound placement. All the sounds seemed to come from the front. With these headphones the surround sound is there and the talking is still intelligible. The music and surround sound are very good and I felt more a part of the movie than with the other headphones. Better yet, there was no cord! I walked through the house during a movie and had continuous sound as I went through other rooms. I have the base unit plugged directly into the Blu Ray player. The base (or cradle) doesn't take up much room and it's easy to set the headphones on it for charging. With my setup, I have to remember that the power to the base goes off when I turn off the power strip. I have to leave things on sometimes to ensure the charging of the headphones. The base seems very stable and unlikely to fall over and even with the headphones on it, it doesn't take up very much room. Great Value
I bought a refurbished unit for $45 instead of $150 for a new one. Mine is basically as new. I use it with the optical cable connected directly to my CD player and the sound is excellent. I used an infrared unit prior to this and had some trouble with drop outs if I moved the wrong way. This system is RF in the 2.4 Ghz range and there are no drop outs when moving around its area. I get about 100 ft of range as advertised. I use it to listen to music and not movies or games so I can only vouch for the good quality of sound for music. It does not have selectors for different sound formats like stereo, 5.1 or 7.1 but if has a selector for music, movies and games so that may do the same thing. I have not tried any different modes. Great sound!
