Large opening and tight fitting lid are the best features
I purchased this kettle to replace another one that had a silicone wrapped handle, but was still too hot to touch after the water was boiled and ready to pour. The kettle does not boil water any quicker than other kettles.
This kettle’s handle grip will stay cool, as long as you use a low-medium gas flame while bringing your water to the boil. Any higher than that and you will need to use a pot holder to pick up the kettle and pour. The spout as well will sputter and spit while pouring if your flame was too high and the spout was overheated. While pouring and holding the kettle, it is comfortable and ergonomic in its handling, and feels well balanced.
The whistle is rather weak, but does its job. Opening and closing the whistle can also lead to burns if you left the kettle boil too long, as the hot water condenses on the whistle and when you flip it open to pour, you can be splashed with scalding water.
The shape of the kettle is awkward looking to me and not one I am fond of. The finish as well is brushed stainless steel, and I believe it would have made a much classier looking kettle had it sported a polished finish, despite its unconventional shape.
The large opening for filling and cleaning as well as the tight fitting lid are the best features of this kettle.
