Works Great for Me
In 2001, my hair started falling out on top. An endocrinologist told me that I was "just at that age," and anyway, my hair was not actually thin, just thinner than it had been. At that time, I started taking niacin (a B vitamin), and the loss stopped. Then, over the years, I found that the strands were becoming finer and finer. My hair was starting to look thin on the crown and at the temples. The worst thing was when I washed it, and it felt like cobwebs, barely there. So, after a bit of research, I bought some Rogaine foam 5%. I used it a few times, now and then, to see if I would have any bad side-effects. It did seem to make my heart pound the first few times, but then that went away. Also, I was using too much at a time, so that probably accounts for that. I have been using the same brand and dose for 4 months now, regularly, except for a few days occasionally when I color my hair. There has been a dramatic improvement in both the thickness of the hair shafts and the general thickness of my hair, starting at about 2 months. I supplement the Rogaine with a B-100 supplement, taken several days per week, and some daily brushing of my scalp with a 'wet brush,' which is (I guess) supposed to be for wet hair, but works great on my dry hair. I would also like to mention that some of the Rogaine has been 'out of date,' but still worked fine for me. I have had trouble with facial hair for quite some time, and it is a bit worse with the Rogaine, but just marginally. Anyway, I am extremely happy with this product and intend to keep using it. If it is any help, I am in my early 60s.
